ST AUGUSTINE, Florida (March 15, 2024) – St Augustine Sailing is excited to announce the inaugural Ladybug Race Event, scheduled for April 28, 2024. This event, title “Ladybug Race Event” is not just a race; it’s a community-driven initiative aimed at supporting the Women On the Water (WOW!) program. While the event is organized in support of women in sailing, it is open to all regardless of gender.
The Ladybug Race Event promises an exhilarating day filled with activities for sailors and sailing enthusiasts alike. Taking place at St. Augustine Sailing, the event will feature a Mini Boat Show showcasing Jeanneau Sun Odyssey models ranging from 35’ to 44’ along with a Lagoon 40. Attendees can explore these models and engage in various on-dock activities from 9AM to 5PM. A series of workshops and seminars will be held throughout the day, covering topics ranging from marine weather forecasting to winch maintenance, and from cruising essentials to writing and publishing while aboard. Renowned speakers including Chris Parker, John Gaughan, and Behan Grifford will share their expertise and insights. For those seeking hands-on experience, an Intro to Sailing course will be offered at multiple times during the day. The highlight of the event, the Ladybug Race, will feature both performance and cruiser class racing, with a special category for All Female Crew competing for the Ladybug Trophy.
