Why did you choose your industry?I was closing HELOCs in the '90s for folks getting an SBA loan, using HELOC as down payment I became an SBA broker then hired on with Wachovia SMall Business Capital in 1995
Who are your typical clients?W2 employees looking to own their own business. Partner buy outs, acquiring CRE for their small business
What do you like best about being in this industry?Helping people acheive their dream of becoming an entrepenuer
What are common problems you see?Interest rate increased 6% in one year
What advice/tips do you have for clients?Know how much you want to borrow, What the money is for and how it will be paid back!! We get alot of borrowers that say they dont know how much to ask for.....
When is your busy season?Small Businesses borrow money everyday. I'd say deals slow down in summer for vacations but SBA lending isn't seasonal in Florida!!
What keeps you up at night?Keeping deals alive for client's that become friends
How do you market yourself to grow/expand your business?We are a small boutique SBA lender, we have a small shop so w dont fight for an underwriter to start our loan, same with our closing department, we have high quality lowq volume closings.
How involved are you in the community?Previous Rotarian, Board Member for Character Counts, Started several Men's meetings for recovery and bible studies, volunteering at COE22 in local events

What advice would you give to someone thinking of getting into this business?You have to love people, be a proactive project manager with your deals, know when to say no, and sell sell sell If you don't know the answer to something ASK THE QUESTION! Don't guess
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?Learning new things!!
