Short description of you or your company:
The MOAA Northeast Florida Chapter is a chartered affiliate of the Military Officers Association of America, and we are associated with the Florida Council of Chapters. The purposes of the chapter is to promote the purposes and objectives of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA); foster fraternal relations among retired, active duty, and former officers of the uniformed services and their reserve components; protect the rights and interests of active duty, retired, and reserve component personnel of the uniformed services and their dependents and survivors; provide useful services for members and their dependents and survivors; and serve the community and the nation.

Regular membership of our Chapter is composed of men and women who are serving or have ever served as Commissioned or Warrant Officers on active duty in any of the eight uniformed services.

Surviving Spouse members of our Chapter are Widows or Widowers of any deceased individual who would, if living, be eligible for membership. Our chapter’s Surviving Spouse Liaison provides direct support and information to aid in the many issues that surviving spouses must deal with upon the loss of their spouse.

Through its various committees and members’ support, our Chapter sponsors a wide range of programs and activities throughout the year.

What Is Your Why (Why Do You Do What You Do)?: I have been involved with the administration of the Northeast Florida Chapter for the past eight to nine years and have found it very satisfying to be a key player in making our chapter one of the best chapters, of its size, in the State of Florida and the nation.

How did you get started in your field or work?: After being a National MOAA member for nearly twenty-six years I decided to join a local chapter after relocating to the Jacksonville area. Getting involved in the administration of the chapter just came naturally.

What’s one thing we should know that makes you or your company unique?: The one thing that makes the MOAA Northeast Florida Chapter unique is that we are truly a nonpartisan organization dedicated to providing support for our military, veterans and their families within our local community. The addition benefit is bringing together a group of active duty, retired and former officers as chapter members to enjoy the camaraderie they were used to while serving in uniform and at the same time work together to better support all members of the uniformed services no matter what their rank or status.

What are your biggest goals in the next 6 to 12 Months?:
Increase chapter membership by 10%.
Raise enough funds to support at least two-chapter scholarship awards to local JROTC seniors for both 2025 and 2026.
Develop social & veteran/community support programs and activities that will motivate our membership to increase their involvement in the chapter.
