How long have you been in your industry?13 years
Why did you choose your industry?I fell into medical weight loss after leaving a toxic job post-grad. What started as just a new opportunity became a calling. I spent 13 years helping patients lose weight and quickly saw that it wasn’t just about the scale—it was about improving their whole life. By focusing on root causes, I helped reduce medications, ease symptoms, and restore hope. That’s what led me to open my own practice, blending traditional and functional care.
Who are your typical clients?Busy adults, often women but also men, struggling with weight, inflammation, fatigue, or chronic conditions like high cholesterol, pre diabetes or even pain. Many have tried multiple diets without lasting results. They’re looking for a personalized, sustainable approach that addresses the root causes of their health concerns, not just the symptoms. Anyone with GI issues= gut health!
What do you like best about being in this industry? What I love most is the challenge—every patient is unique. I enjoy helping people feel better when they thought nothing would work. I get to show them they haven’t tried everything and that it's not always their fault. Real metabolic changes can affect weight and health, and I love giving people hope and a plan that finally makes a difference.
What are common problems you see? There’s a lot of misinformation and false promises. Many chase quick fixes, but those lead to short-term results and long-term frustration. I also see competition from providers who offer meds without real support or education. Patients deserve more than a prescription—they need guidance, accountability, and someone who truly cares about their long-term success.
What advice/tips do you have for clients?Be patient! Your poor health or being overweight didn’t happen overnight. Avoid quick fixes and false promises. Focus on small, consistent changes and trust the process. Invest in your health now to avoid costly medical issues later. Don’t wait until you’re sick—be proactive, not reactive. Find a provider who you connect with and who you really feel has your best interest at heart. Find someone who will educate you and help you understand why they want you to do certain things, An educated patient is a compliant and successful patient.
When is your busy season?fall and spring
What keeps you up at night? How am I going to get patients in the door? How are they going to find out about me? When and how will my practice grow becoming profitable? How can I make myself stand out from the competition?
How do you market yourself to grow/expand your business?trying to do as much in person as I can to make myself stand out- vendor markets, networking events, women's events, (working on getting social media going), SEO
How involved are you in the community?I volunteer at Catholic Charities and Cup of Love Ministry at least once a month. I am helping to create a marriage/couples ministry at our church and have helped to organize 3 Together in Holiness Marriage Circles within our community. I am new to the area so I am still looking for other opportunities to get more involved.
What is your favorite not for profit or charity?currently: Catholic Charities, Catholic Charities Outreach and Cup of Love
What advice would you give to someone thinking of getting into this business? It is a lot of work! You really have to think about why you want to do it and who you are doing it for. Don't lose sight of God who makes all things possible. Realize and accept that you are just one person and that it takes time. It won't happen over night. Sounds like my weight loss and health journey advice.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?Is there such a thing right now? Staying active, working out and going to our daughters' softball games.
