About D.R. Gordon ConsultingD.R. Gordon Consulting develops leaders, creates solutions, and solves problems for individuals and teams using proven, real-world problem-solving techniques and guided discussions. With over 35 years of leadership development and executive coaching experience both from the military and industry, we provide team building techniques that boost client productivity and profitability.
What differentiates you from the competition? We stand apart through our veteran leadership expertise, two published books (TEAM and LEAD) that support our proven methodologies, along with tailored strategic solutions, and measurable performance gains provided to our clients.
What are your top selling services or products that your company offers?35+ years of military and industry leadership, proven with clients ranging from individuals to teams of 10–250, plus two books (TEAM and LEAD) and hands‑on consulting that uniquely builds and coaches high‑performing individuals and organizations.
If you had one message to get across to future customers, what would it be?I bring a rare, cross‑level skill set based on 35+ years of experience and combine that with real-world problems solving and team building techniques that have produced outstanding results for both individual Executives as well as their teams.
What is the biggest marketing challenge that you will face in the upcoming year?We are a small, niche consulting company, so our biggest challenge will be getting our brand out to our potential customers so we can highlight the experience and great services we offer to both individuals and teams to help them grow and improve.

What is your approach to helping clients identify and solve key challenges? I approach each client first by learning about them individually and about their team (if applicable), so that I can fully understand their challenges both personally and professionally. Once we have a complete understanding of those challenges then we look to flesh out both their short and long term goals and agree to what those are and work towards a plan to achieve them. It’s a very hands-on approach, but one that I enjoy because I get to know and learn the client(s) and their industry, which keeps me engaged in working with them to solve the challenges they face.

How do you tailor your coaching or consulting style to different industries? I look at the challenges they have and get a full understanding of what they are trying to achieve and from there, utilize my 35+ years of leadership development, training and mentorship experience to work with the clients to help them achieve their desired results.

What are the most common misconceptions about consulting? It’s a one size fits all type industry. It’s very far from it and in my opinion, as you have to have a wealth of knowledge and experience to be successful, as every client and team you work with has their own very unique set of challenges.

How do you measure the success of your client engagements? Working with my clients (individuals and groups) and seeing their growth and development as they continually recognize the “Ah Ha Moments” that help them and their teams to improve both personally and professionally.

What trends are influencing the future of consulting and coaching? AI usage for clients, both through limitations and understanding of how and when to use it. Leaders are struggling somewhat with how to manage the incredible amount of tools that AI brings to their team. This coupled with the Hybrid workplace environment can put a strain on individuals in leadership positions as well as their members who are working daily.

What’s the most rewarding part of your work? Getting a full understanding of my clients problems and then working with them to solve them.

What skills do you think are essential for future consultants or coaches? Flexibility and knowledge of numerous groups and industry. Also understanding how to work with teams through personnel challenges brought on by the Hybrid working environment will continue to be something that needs to be addressed and will be essential for future consultants and coaches to have a solid grasp on.
