About FairchildHRRecruitment Services Exclusively for Small Business
What differentiates you from the competition?Three things. First, we work exclusively with small businesses. We understand what it means when one hire can change the direction of a company. Second, our process. Every search gets its own custom protocol of assessments and structured interviews built around that specific role. Third, our guarantee. We back every placement for a full year, where most firms offer 30, 60, or 90 days. Clients also get me and my partner directly, not a junior associate. Between us, we've been doing this for almost 50 years and nearly all of our business comes through referrals from people we've already served.
What are your top selling services or products that your company offers? We don't post a job and wait. We go find people who are already doing the work somewhere else, then put them through assessments and structured interviews designed for that specific role. The client sees a small number of candidates who are ready to interview, not a stack of resumes. It's a fixed fee, so there are no surprises, and every placement carries a one-year guarantee. For a small business, that means a hire they can build on, not a gamble.
If you had one message to get across to future customers, what would it be?Your next key hire will either move your business forward or cost you 30 to 200 percent of their salary. That's what a bad hire runs, and for a leadership role it's the high end. Most owners can't absorb that. Retained search removes the risk. We work for you, build the assessments and interviews around your exact role, and present people who are ready to step in. Nearly 50 years of combined experience, and every placement is backed for a full year. Others offer 30 to 90 days
What is the biggest marketing challenge that you will face in the upcoming year?Reaching small business owners before they need us. Most owners don't think about executive search until a key person leaves, and by then they're in a hurry and calling whoever comes up first. Our best clients come to us through referrals from CPAs, attorneys, and bankers. The challenge this year is building enough of those relationships, that when an owner's controller or operations lead gives notice, someone in their circle already knows our name. The second piece is education. Many owners see a retained search fee as an expense. We have to show them it's an investment, and that the wrong hire costs far more than the right search.

What is the biggest operational challenge that you will face in the upcoming year?Capacity. We’re a small firm and we do the work ourselves, which is why clients hire us. The challenge is growing the number of searches we can run at once. This year that means tightening our systems, from candidate tracking to how we build each search protocol, so we can take on more without losing what makes us different
