On 5 Minute Salute, our hosts Steve Strum and Chris Budihas talk to veterans making a difference in their communities. Today, Chris and Steve have the honor to speak with Ron Gamble of Veterans United Craft Brewery.
Short description of you or your company:
We are a veteran-owned & operated brewery on the southside of Jacksonville. We have a large production facility with taproom that is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday. We are the 2nd largest production brewery in northeast FL. Our beers can be purchased in our taproom, at bars and restaurants, and at numerous grocery stores and package stores around town.
The founder and Brewmaster, Ron Gamble, is a former Naval Flight Officer who flew jets from aircraft carriers and conducted missions over Iraq in the first Gulf War; every generation of Ron’s family has served in the military as far back as the Spanish American War. Veterans United employs mostly veterans in the company with them holding positions in brewery operations, accounting, sales, and taproom staff.
What Is Your Why (Why Do You Do What You Do)?:
Veterans United Craft Brewery is owned and operated by military veterans who share an enthusiastic desire for producing and enjoying quality craft beer. We are dedicated to satiating healthy appetites with flavorful beer through the use of fresh, quality ingredients and hope to expand the definition of what beer can be through our hard
work and innovation.
Veterans United strives to raise awareness and appreciation of veterans and members of our active duty military to help recognize their service and sacrifice. We take the same pride and passion that we had in serving our country and put this energy and enthusiasm into our beers!
How did you get started in your field or work?: A homebrew kit that my wife bought me in 1999 started me on my journey. My new hobby became a passion which led me to my new profession.
What’s one thing we should know that makes you or your company unique?: Our uniqueness comes from producing quality craft beer by a team of individuals who once served their country and are now dedicated to brewing and serving great craft beer.
What are your biggest goals in the next 6 to 12 Months?: Our goal is to continue our growth through increased distribution in the state of Florida.
