Welcome back to Brand Champions. I’m Howard Wolpoff, your host. I’m very excited to have with us today Eric Peschke from Centex Remodeling Group. Eric, welcome to our conversation.

Eric:
Thanks for having me, Howard.

Howard:
We’re glad you’re here and excited to learn about the work you’re doing. Your company is creating positive change—transforming people’s homes and making them more comfortable. How are you branding yourselves in the market so more people are aware of you and choose your services?

Eric:
One of our missions is to become the most trusted home improvement company in the country. One of the ways we’ve reinforced that is by working closely with the BBB. We’ve won the BBB Torch Award for Ethics, and we were also an international finalist for ethics. Gaining customer trust is huge for us, so we focus heavily on generating reviews across all platforms. That helps customers educate themselves about Centex as a clearly family-owned and operated business.

Howard:
To be successful, you need the right systems. It’s not just getting the job and doing the work—it’s the follow-up, asking for reviews, and having a clear direction. At what point did you realize this approach was essential for bringing in more business?

Eric:
We believe every interaction with a potential customer is an opportunity to ask for a review—even before they officially become a customer. A lot of companies wait until after a purchase or installation. We ask throughout the entire process because it shows us how well our team is doing. We want a smooth handoff from marketing to sales to production to installation to service. That approach has helped us generate far more reviews than many other companies.

Howard:
That’s outstanding. People really do rely on reviews—they want to know others have had good experiences. How crowded is the marketplace, and when did you feel your company started rising to the top?

Eric:
Unfortunately, there are many home improvement companies that aren’t trustworthy. That actually makes it easier for us to stand out by consistently doing the right thing. If we make a mistake, we fix it. We make sure the customer is happy. But we have to commit to that every day. Everyone in a leadership role understands that we must hold ourselves accountable to what we’ve promised each customer—and then back it up.

Howard:
Do you see this structure continuing, or are there future developments that can elevate your brand even more?

Eric:
There are always new ways to strengthen the brand—being more visible, more reliable, and earning positive feedback. One area we want to improve is generating more referrals. We already offer a referral program where anyone who refers a customer who makes a purchase receives a $250 check. But we can do more, especially with follow-ups. If someone buys a bathroom from us, we should reach out a year or two later to see if they’re ready for the second one.

Howard:
It sounds like you have not only a great company with strong systems, but also a promising future with even more opportunities ahead—and very happy customers. Eric, we’re so glad you joined us today, and we’re excited to see what you continue to build in 2026.
