The five minute salute. I’m your host, Chris Budihas today. Segment is sponsored by the Military Affairs and Veterans Department of the City of Jacksonville. Harrison County is in the team scoring our veterans with the benefits they deserve based on their military service. Talking about veterans here in the studio, I have Jason Miller with BrightPulse IT sir, how are you?
Speaker 2
Very good. Thank you for having me.
Speaker 1
No, thanks for coming in. So a little bit of background on you. Where are you originally from and what you do in the military?
Speaker 2
Grew up in, Spokane, Washington. Joined the Navy shortly after high school, was on submarines the entire time, kind of to a Tale of Two careers. Did some enlisted time, some officer time, and, got out with, a business focus and just kind of been doing it ever since.
Speaker 1
Sue Creek for a little bit of background business. What kind of business spaces have you been in before? We get in the bright pulse?
Speaker 2
Yeah. So I’ve worked in pretty much every industry with the exception of media entertainment. Spent a lot of time in here. You are? Yeah, I.
Speaker 1
Go.
Speaker 2
Figure. I’m a manufacturing consumer goods guy by trade, supply chain procurement. But I’ve spent, over a decade in the insurance and financial service space I’ve worked at everywhere from USAA to CNO financial, worked with a lot of different, insurance companies throughout the years. So kind of become an expert in that space as well. But, technology is kind of where I’ve landed over the last 15 years.
Yeah. And, that’s what I’m focused on now.
Speaker 1
So talk about bright pulse. It.
Speaker 2
Yeah. So, prior to joining or prior to starting up Bright Pulse, I worked for a company called creation, which is a leader in the no code, technology automation space. And I decided to leave there after about four years, in the executive staff to start up my own company. Yeah. It’s great to be able to talk about technology, but it’s, much more beneficial when I can get hands on boots on the ground to actually work with customers and help them see the successes that they’re trying to achieve versus just talking about it.
Speaker 1
So what do you guys provide?
Speaker 2
It solution consulting, and technology solutions. So, primarily working with a couple of different platforms on everything from ERP, CRM type solutions. All using the most modern technology. And obviously AI is a huge portion of that. How people can get the most out of their technology, spend, maybe get rid of some of the legacy solutions they’ve been doing.
You and I were talking beforehand about something like maybe Salesforce.com. A lot of people spend a lot of money on that, a lot of money. We like to be able to show organizations how they can save, you know, 30 to 50% and even get better outcomes, versus something like that. I mean, you know, that’s just one example, but there’s a lot of legacy technology that still sits in business, and we love to talk to people about how to modernize that and get more for their technology.
Speaker 1
That’s interesting because the speed of technology can be like a speed boat, or it could be like the Titanic, right? So depending on who you use is a naval or maritime. But if you who you Hank, your, you know, hook your anchor to, you know, can either slow you down or you can, you know, put a line on speed boating to speed you up.
Speaker 2
Yeah. I think the big challenge is, is a lot of times organizations feel like they’re stuck with the things that they’ve invested heavily into. And a lot of times that is true depending on the business. Also depending on the culture of an organization, how how good they are with change. That’s what my organization does, is we help organizations understand that change is possible.
Yeah, that change can benefit them and that they’re not always stuck when they feel like they are. Yeah.
Speaker 1
So I got to imagine you guys talking beforehand. I mean you’re truly doing analysis. You’re meeting with the client and then you’re kind of, you know, you’re having that conversation. It’s funny, I talk to people I and, and a couple of folks are telling me, like, companies know they need a I, but a lot of times they’re investing in the wrong type of a you’re putting they’re just they’re just throwing money at the wall and hope it’s going to stick.
But the reality of it is, what’s the problem? Define the problem. And then kind of figure out the workflow and what you’re trying to create to actually have something of value.
Speaker 2
Yeah, you you’ve nailed that one right on the head. I mean, when we think about it, we’re only a little over two years since, you know, Sam Altman launched OpenAI and brought us into this world of generative AI. Yeah, but the reality of it is, is generative AI is great for you. And I when we want to, you know, create a script for something like this or we want to, you know, create an image.
The real power in technology and AI when it comes to business, isn’t generative. It’s a genetic and it’s, predictive. So it’s how do we use the data that we’ve already got to inform us about the future and then let a genetic AI really drive some of that? The autonomous stuff that we don’t want to necessarily spend our time doing.
Yeah. Put our own people to work doing value added things. Absolutely. So I mean, I love generative AI, don’t get me wrong, but it really doesn’t move the needle when it comes to business. And that’s what I help organizations understand is where to invest that money. What value can come from it, and really how to move that needle.
Speaker 1
Yeah, I could tell already you’re like a fiduciary, right? You know when they win, I win because you want to acquire this winning. Right. Even if you’re making money because you’ve seen people like they’ll take the money in. But the reality of they’re not winning. So you know that that relationship really a partnership that matters a lot. Is there any specific businesses and businesses segments you’re you’re specifically working with?
It doesn’t really not matter what business are. And it could be a manufacturer and they could be in, I don’t know, marketing sales, whatever.
Speaker 2
Yeah. I mean, anybody that deals with customers, right. Whether it’s a sales, a service or a marketing, type engagement, these are organizations that we love to help and even organizations that have a lot of manual processes in the back end where you’ve got paper moving through. I love to be able to show organizations how to move into the digital realm and actually advance the business.
Take some of that paperwork off your hands, right? And being able to move that into a system so that your people can focus more on whatever that value add activity is versus all that paperwork, just clutter and desk.
Speaker 1
Is there any specific geographical area that you’re concentrating on or nationwide global. You know, there’s a matter. Yeah.
Speaker 2
So right now, I’m in a strategic alliance with a couple other partners of, of the creation platform, and we are offering our services globally, but specifically Brite Pulse, we’re focused in North America. Okay. So Canada, US, globally, really any industry, we can help organizations on our background covers all industries. Yeah. So that’s, that’s really what it is.
And we come with, you know, over 15 years of successful implementation experience on the platform.
Speaker 1
So I was someone last question with the value proposition, because there’s other people out there in the space. So 15 years of experience, any other things that was would make you guys a stand out?
Speaker 2
Yeah, I think the not only do we have the largest bench in the world of resources on creating a platform, we come from the business, right? I like I said, I come from the business, I’ve moved to technology, but I really focus on the business side. And to your point, that partnership, understanding what the needs are, is the most important thing.
And because we have all this experience across these various industries, yeah, we know the business very well. So whether it’s, you know, the insurance space, underwriting, financial management, it’s in the banking credit union space or even in the manufacturing CPG space, we know where those levers are that technology can really enable and help businesses grow.
Speaker 1
So what were some of the other big mistakes you’re seeing with businesses that you’re working with or people that are getting in contact with you guys?
Speaker 2
I think number one that we hear is they don’t understand, to your point, how to use AI to really leverage it and move the business forward. They feel like it’s a waste of money because they haven’t invested in the right places. I think the other thing is that organizations feel like they don’t have a path forward, and that they’ve been either beholden to the way things always were, or they feel like they’re, you know, unsure of what their path is.
So we come in, we help them understand current situation, we help them understand what they are to the possible is and then help bridge that gap and get them there.
Speaker 1
That’s great. And so folks that are the me want to, you know, I don’t know join your team or get hired. You know you guys are looking for folks yet or. Yeah.
Speaker 2
So we are we we’ve got a big team already. Okay. Between between all of our partners, we have about 250 people that work with us. But we always continue to grow every single day. Whether it’s, you know, business analysts or technology specialists. Always happy to hear from folks because you never know where those conversations are going to lead.
Speaker 1
