Short company description:
Home care agency that offers many services: post op recovery care, companionship services, home support services, non-medical transportation services, medication reminders more.
Can you share a moment or experience that significantly deepened or shaped your faith journey?
Losing my mom really deepened and shaped my faith.
In what ways do you actively live out your faith in your daily life — at work, home, or in your community?
One of my favorite scriptures is love your neighbor as you love yourself that is the second greatest commandment. As I work with people even in the industry I work in taking care of people and helping people heal in such a vulnerable state of their lives, I am always reminded to love those as myself.
What encouragement or scripture has been especially meaningful to you in this season, and why?
Matthew 6:33 it always remind to seek God first in all things and that as I seek him he will give me everything that I need.
What advice would you give to someone who’s struggling to live out their faith or looking to grow spiritually?
Advice that I would give someone who is struggling with their faith or looking to grow spiritually: get in community. There is a scripture that says it was not meant for man to be alone, you can look at the scripture from many different aspects. In context the scripture was related to marriage. However, you can look at it as we are not supposed to do life by ourselves. Being in a community of like minded people will help in so many ways, especially when you’re wanting to grow in your faith. Being around those who have been in your shoes looking to increase their faith spiritually it is important to be around people that can encourage you and help you. The Bible says iron sharpens iron. The disciples had Jesus they had each other. So get in community with others, use wisdom and pray and ask the holy Spirit for guidance.

Morgan:
Welcome back to another episode of Living My Faith, where we talk about those who are making Kingdom impact. I’m Morgan Yonge, joined today by Janay Wilkins with Shareem’s Touch Love & Care. Janay, thank you so much for being here.
Jannai:
Thank you for having me. It’s so great to meet you.
Morgan:
Nice to meet you as well.
You are an author, a woman of faith, and a business owner. Incredible. All the things you’ve been able to accomplish. I want to start by diving into your faith. Tell me about how you’re living your faith and a little about your testimony.
Jannai:
Every day, just through my life. Being patient, having the fruits of the Spirit, being kind, having long-suffering and endurance. All of those things help me be a better person, especially when I work with people on a day-to-day basis and have different encounters.
Morgan:
That’s so true. It becomes a part of who you are when you show up as a child of God. That’s beautiful. Tell me how that has transitioned into you becoming an author.
Jannai:
I believe because of my story. I’ve dealt with a lot, from trauma to grief, abuse, and losing loved ones. Sometimes when we go through things, we don’t realize how they shape us, how we view ourselves, and how we view God.
During times of grief and trauma, I had to really lean on and depend on God. There were moments when I questioned God and wondered how a loving God could allow me to go through those things. I had to shift my perspective.
That shift is what birthed the book and my business. I believe God doesn’t allow us to go through things without purpose. Often, what we go through is for other people, because there are others facing the same or even worse situations. Our lives can become a testimony that helps deliver someone else out of their situation.
Morgan:
That’s so true. My pastor shared this weekend how a silversmith knows the silver is ready when they can see their image in it. God puts us through the fire until He can see His image in us.
That’s what I’m picking up from your book. We have this beautiful cover with fire and butterflies. What do the butterflies represent?
Jannai:
Butterflies represent transformation. They start in one stage, go through another, and eventually are birthed into a butterfly that can fly. This book is self-help and interactive. It’s a journey. Each chapter shows transformation from beginning to end.
Morgan:
I’m so excited. That’s awesome.
Now tell me about Shareem’s Touch Love & Care. How did that come to be, and what services do you provide?
Jannai:
Serena’s Touch Loving Care was named after my mom. Her middle name is Shereen, and I created it in honor of her. It was birthed out of a desire to help the community, especially underserved areas where people may think they don’t need help.
For example, with postpartum care, I offer services because many mothers don’t have support after having a baby. Research shows that when moms have a support system, they’re less likely to experience postpartum depression, which is why I offer that service.
We provide postpartum care, post-op recovery care, companionship services, and home support services. That includes meal prepping, helping keep the home organized, and other tasks some people may not be able to do on their own.
Morgan:
That is incredible and such a need.
Jannai:
It is.
Morgan:
So you help anyone and everyone, and you take insurance?
Jannai:
Yes. We accept Medicaid, Humana, Aetna, United Healthcare, and American Veterans Care Connection. For veterans and surviving spouses, we’re in network, and their services are covered.
Morgan:
That is incredible. What a great service.
What are you most looking forward to? You have big goals ahead.
Jannai:
Now that book one is out, I’m working on book number two, which will be released this year. I’m excited and grateful for God using me as a vessel. I’ve received so many messages from people saying, “I didn’t know I needed this,” and that tells me the book is doing what it’s supposed to do.
Morgan:
I love that. In Living My Faith, we often talk about what God is speaking to us. Is there a verse or word you’re holding onto right now?
Jannai:
I recently talked about trusting God with our whole heart and not leaning on our own understanding, knowing He will direct our paths. Sometimes when we leave God out, we only get His acceptable will, not His perfect will.
This year, I told God I want His perfect will, no matter what it requires. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds me that God already has a plan and a blueprint for my life. I have to renew my mind daily and trust that He will lead and direct me.
Morgan:
Amen. I love it. The Word just lights me up from the inside out. Does it do that for you too?
Jannai:
Yes, it does.
Morgan:
That’s exciting. Thank you so much for being here. If people want to get your book, where can they find it?
Jannai:
They can purchase it at ItsAliveAgain.com. You can also find sweatshirts, candles, t-shirts, and more there.Morgan:
So exciting. Thank you again.
