Why did you choose your industry?After 20 years in Automotive working my way to General Manager of high line dealerships I realized I was handcuffed to the store, working long hours and needed to make a change for myself. I stumbled upon the mortgage industry and realized it was something I can do remote and work as much or as little as I want so I dove in head first.
Who are your typical clients?1st time home buyers and real estate investors.
What do you like best about being in this industry?Being able to help people with the biggest purchase of their life making it a stress free experience when most are very stressed about such large of a purchase
What are common problems you see?Most people aren’t problem solvers. If I have a client who doesn’t qualify. I work with them on an action plan until they do.
What advice/tips do you have for clients?Make sure you get pre approved before you start looking for a home. Most people do I backwards and then fall in love with a home they don’t qualify for.
When is your busy season?March to September is purchase season
What keeps you up at night?Appraisals.
How do you market yourself to grow/expand your business?I stay consistent on social media and make sure on every transaction I wow everyone involved. This gets the word of mouth train rolling.
How involved are you in the community?As a new father to 2 under 2 years old. I unfortunately don’t have much time for involvement but once they get bigger I am a Lutheran and plan to get more involved with the Church and school activities for my children.
What is your favorite not for profit or charity?Anything related to helping animals.
What advice would you give to someone thinking of getting into this business?Get in when the market is on fire and build your purchase business referral partners. Don’t focus on refi business because if you do. You’ll be looking for a new job when rates increase.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?Golf, Gun Range, Jiu Jitsu and Gym. Also spending a ton of time with my kids teaching them how to be the best versions of themselves.
