How do you see the role of performing arts evolving in today’s culture?I see more opportunities for young film makers to start telling their stories. Even in the Film Festival there a lot of categories just for students and even just different communities having summer counts to teach kids editing and the production side of filmmaking because it is 10% show in 90% business.
What inspires your creative process?I think what inspires me is I started out doing poetry , then I got into writing short stories and then I think when I started doing plays, I said hey Wright short stories why can’t I write a place I started writing place and then scripts so so many things influence me and the Egard Allen Poe house in Maryland going there I knew I wanted to be a writer.
How do you navigate the balance between art and commercial success?right now this is very new to me. We are actually planning to go to London next year for one of the festivals that we want in Canada because we’re nominated for two awards in Canada as well so is some is all new to me and I just think we’re so humble and grateful and actually have some production deals on the table, but they’re waiting to see the script.
What’s been your most memorable project or performance and why?I would have to say it is our short film American ghetto superstar because it’s a parody of America’s got talent and it was my second time directing a actual film not not the AI film but actual people and it was incredibly fun, but I still was able to handle the set but make it enjoyable for my casting crew.
How has technology influenced live performance and entertainment?I believe that there will always be people who love live theater and there will always be people who go to the movies but now we have new technology like AI, which I use for my concept film, but some people are doing whole movies with AI SAG just did a whole film with AI so it’s gonna be interesting to see how this changes the scope of movie making it helps with the budget because it can cut down the cost of some scenes, but you just have some people that like it and some people are totally against it and some people that are neutral so I wanna see where it goes because even in concert you have people that have these I forget what you call him holograms.
What advice would you give to emerging artists?I would tell young filmmakers if you have a phone you have a camera don’t wait to you know oh, I don’t have this and I don’t have that use all the resources that you have they have one Academy awards with people who have shot with a cell phone with a iPhone, so I would tell these artists to go for it. Don’t put off tomorrow when you can do today..
How do you stay connected with your audience?I am very interactive on our social media when I can’t be, but I try to interact because people like interaction and it also let me know what they think I like to find out what they think about the film we ask people to write a review and we got over 100 responses and I think the most unique one when the person told me they hate AI but they liked where I created.
