S.T.I.X. Academy
What is the core mission of your organization? Our core mission is to teach drumming, mentor with purpose, and build a Christ‑centered community that shapes youth with discipline and confidence while guiding veterans toward healing, identity, and renewed purpose.
How do you measure impact and success in your programs? We measure impact by tracking growth in discipline, confidence, rhythm skills, attendance, and community engagement. Through surveys, mentor feedback, and performance milestones, we see real change—because at STIX Academy, we’re forging transformation, beat by beat.
What are your biggest fundraising or outreach challenges? As a new organization, our biggest fundraising and outreach challenges are building awareness, expanding our network with limited resources, and connecting with donors and partners who believe in our mission to forge transformation, beat by beat.
How do you build long-term relationships with donors and supporters? We build long‑term relationships with donors through consistent communication, personal connection, and mission‑centered storytelling. We listen first, share real transformation stories, and show donors the impact of their support. By honoring their generosity, following up with gratitude, and inviting them into our community—not just our programs—we create partnerships that last and grow over time.
What trends are influencing the nonprofit world today? Nonprofits today are shaped by rising digital engagement, the need for authentic storytelling, and increased donor expectations for transparency and measurable impact.
Can you share a story that shows your mission in action? After retiring from the Army, I felt lost. My identity, purpose, and sense of direction had all taken a hit. Everything changed on a mission trip to Nicaragua, where I gave my life to Christ. That moment sparked a healing I didn’t know I needed. Drumming and community became the tools God used to rebuild me—beat by beat. Now, through STIX Academy, I get to walk with youth and veterans who feel the same emptiness I once carried. Every time I see a student find confidence, discipline, or hope behind a drum, I’m reminded why this mission exists. Their transformation mirrors my own.
What keeps you motivated in this work? What keeps me motivated is seeing people truly benefit from this program and transform mentally, physically and spiritually.
