How is the current market affecting buying and selling trends? After a brutal 2025 of closures, downsizing, and empty meeting rooms, it’s encouraging to see traffic returning and offices filling again. Downtown still faces nearly 30% vacancy, so the future depends on creating added value that attracts businesses back.
What technologies are transforming the real estate experience? AI is changing everything, including the way we work and build businesses, and honestly, that part is unavoidable. What matters is making sure we don’t stop thinking for ourselves in the process. Technology should help people become more creative, curious, and connected — not more passive. The real value going forward will come from authentic human conversation, original thought, emotional intelligence, and the ability to tell the difference between something generated by AI and something that comes from real experience and human understanding. AI should support human potential, not replace the human voice.
How do you stay competitive in such a dynamic industry? Keeping the business center active and welcoming is all about creating an environment where clients genuinely enjoy coming to work and feel supported every day. Hosting client socials, appreciation events, and casual networking gatherings helps bring people together, build relationships, and create a real sense of community within the space. These moments give clients the opportunity to connect, collaborate, and feel more engaged, while also showing them that they are valued beyond just being tenants or customers. Along with creating fun and meaningful experiences, delivering exceptional service is what truly makes the difference. Being attentive to clients’ needs, responding quickly, maintaining a positive atmosphere, and always going the extra mile helps build trust and lasting relationships. When clients feel welcomed, appreciated, and taken care of, the business center becomes more than just an office space — it becomes a place where people feel comfortable, motivated, and excited to be part of the community.
What’s your approach to building long-term client relationships? I’ve always believed that strong businesses are built on long-term relationships, not short-term agreements. That’s why I don’t focus on month-to-month arrangements — I focus on building longevity with my clients and creating an environment where people genuinely want to stay. I’m proud to have clients who have been with me for 14 years, and others who have remained loyal since 1999, because those relationships were built on trust, consistency, and truly caring about the people I work with. The same goes for my staff, with some team members having been by my side for more than 23 years. That kind of loyalty doesn’t happen by accident; it comes from treating people with respect, appreciation, and kindness every single day. I’ve always treated my clients and staff like work family, creating a supportive and welcoming atmosphere where everyone feels valued. When people know they matter and feel genuinely cared for, they stay — and those lasting relationships become the foundation of a successful and meaningful business.
How do you navigate challenges like interest rate fluctuations? Because I lease my floors rather than own the buildings, interest rate fluctuations really do not have a major impact on my business operations. The only noticeable effect is typically the annual CAM (Common Area Maintenance) charge adjustments, which are a normal part of commercial leasing and not directly tied to the day-to-day stability of the business itself. Beyond that, my focus remains on maintaining strong client relationships, delivering exceptional service, and creating a professional environment that keeps clients long-term. Since my business model is centered around leasing and occupancy rather than financing property ownership, it allows for more consistency and stability regardless of changes in the market or interest rates. This structure has helped me stay focused on what truly matters — taking care of clients, supporting my staff, and continuing to build a successful and lasting business community.
