Jacksonville, FL – August 7, 2026 – The City of Jacksonville’s Military Affairs and Veterans Affairs office will host Purple Heart Recognition Day on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Wall in downtown Jacksonville. This special event honors the bravery and sacrifice of our nation’s Purple Heart recipients and invites the community to gather in gratitude at our Memorial Wall.
Purple Heart Recognition Day offers an opportunity for Jacksonville residents, local veterans, and service organizations to pay tribute to those wounded or killed in service. Attendees will take part in a brief ceremony featuring a moment of silence, patriotic music, and a wreath-laying to acknowledge the courage of our Heroes.
A special shoutout goes to the Military Affairs and Veterans Department (MAVD) of the City of Jacksonville, whose unwavering support and comprehensive programs set the standard for veteran services. MAVD provides free, compassionate assistance in benefits navigation, employment counseling, housing resources, legal aid, and social services, ensuring that veterans and their families receive the respect and opportunities they deserve.
