How has consumer behavior shifted in the digital age?There is so much to consume that I find consumers in one of two camps. They have extreme discernment and make quick decisions; they know what they need and the first thing they find that meets that need, they will buy. This only happens when they are in a good place economically and can afford to lose that cash if it doesn’t go their way. Or they are tire kickers, they will continue to do the research, they are extremely uncertain, they want to make sure they’re choosing the best possible offer, highest return on investment, and need tons of evidence–this group would rather make no decision than a bad decision.
What advice would you give to aspiring marketers today?You should adopt a growth mindset and always be learning new information about the field. Rather than chasing trends, understand where there are major shifts in consumer behavior and technology. The key to success will be testing, learning, and choosing what sticks and what can be left behind.
