About FOCCUS Marriage MinistriesFOCCUS® Marriage Ministries is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening marriages through research-based conversation tools, facilitator training, and marriage preparation resources. For more than 40 years, FOCCUS has partnered with dioceses, parishes, churches, and organizations around the world to help couples build stronger, healthier lifelong marriages.
What differentiates you from the competition?FOCCUS stands apart by combining decades of research with a facilitator-guided conversation process that helps couples grow in understanding, communication, and lifelong commitment.
What are your top selling services or products that your company offers?FOCCUS is more than an assessment. Our research-based conversation process, trained facilitators, and 40+ years of experience help couples build understanding, improve communication, and strengthen lifelong marriages.
If you had one message to get across to future customers, what would it be?Healthy marriages strengthen families, communities, and the world. Our mission is to help couples begin that journey with meaningful conversations and a strong foundation for lifelong love.
What is the biggest marketing challenge that you will face in the upcoming year? Our biggest challenge is increasing awareness. For over 40 years, FOCCUS has strengthened marriages, yet many churches and organizations still don't know about our research-based resources and the impact they can have on couples and families.

What is the core mission of your organization? Our mission is to strengthen marriages, one conversation at a time, by equipping couples and those who serve them with trusted resources rooted in research, faith, and compassionate care.

How do you measure impact and success in your programs? Our success is measured one relationship at a time. We combine research, participant feedback, and long-term outcomes to continually strengthen our programs and better serve couples and families.

What are your biggest fundraising or outreach challenges? Our biggest challenge isn’t proving our impact—it’s making sure more people know we exist. Every new partnership means more couples have access to stronger marriage preparation.

How do you build long-term relationships with donors and supporters? We believe stewardship builds lasting relationships. By serving with integrity, listening well, and faithfully advancing our mission, we earn the trust of those who support our work.

What trends are influencing the nonprofit world today? AI and technology are changing how nonprofits communicate, but not why they exist. The organizations that thrive will use innovation to strengthen—not replace—human relationships and their mission.

Can you share a story that shows your mission in action? One of the most meaningful moments I’ve experienced recently wasn’t about numbers or organizational growth—it was about one person discovering a deeper purpose.

I shared an early draft of The FOCCUS Way with one of our team members, Deacon José, who has served couples for many years. After reading it, he told me something I’ll never forget. He said that, for the first time, he felt like he wasn’t simply facilitating conversations with couples—he felt called to be part of something much bigger. He said the book helped him see that every conversation with a couple is part of a larger mission to strengthen marriages, families, and ultimately communities.

A few days later, he wrote to tell me that the manuscript had given him a renewed sense of purpose. He described his ministry not as completing a task, but as answering God’s call to serve couples more faithfully and intentionally.

That moment reminded me why FOCCUS exists. We certainly help couples prepare for marriage, but we also help those who serve them discover that they are part of something much greater than themselves. When facilitators understand that their work is a ministry, every conversation takes on new meaning—and that can change lives.

What keeps you motivated in this work? What keeps me motivated is knowing that our work has an impact far beyond the moment we see it. We may never know all the marriages that were strengthened, the conflicts that were prevented, or the children who will grow up in healthier families because a couple had one honest conversation before they were married.

I also believe God has entrusted each of us with work that matters. For me, leading FOCCUS isn’t simply a career—it’s a calling. Every decision we make, every resource we create, every facilitator we train, and every couple we serve has the potential to strengthen a marriage. And when you strengthen a marriage, you strengthen a family. Stronger families build stronger communities, and stronger communities can change the world.

That perspective reminds me that even the ordinary work we do each day can have an extraordinary and lasting impact.
