About Puryear FarmsWe are a landscape construction and property maintenance business operating from a 100 acre family farm on the North Bank of the Cumberland River in Gallatin, Tennessee. We have been in business for 35 years and are just 4 years away from designating the farm as a "Century Farm". I started the business with a pickup truck and 2 employees. We have grown it to a thirteen million dollar business employing over 120 people. What makes our company unique is the extraordinary company culture we have developed based on our core values and mission/Vision statements. We are the opposite of what our industry is experiencing in roll ups and private equity investment. We have a long range vision to remain an independent family owned business.

What are your top selling services or products that your company offers?We are focused on long term relationships with clients and career opportunities for our employees. Those two issues are the benchmarks for the achievement of our long range vision in 2040.

If you had one message to get across to future customers, what would it be?Selecting the right landscape service provider is about choosing the company with a strong company culture committed equally to customer satisfaction and employee advancement and development. One should not be pursued at the expense of the other.

What is the biggest marketing challenge that you will face in the upcoming year?Narrowing our marketing program to focus on our specific identified target market. We are not the right fit for every client and we do not compete as a low cost provider. We fill a very specific need.

How do you stay ahead of changing consumer preferences? Attending Industry association conferences and participation in industry peer groups

What makes your brand stand out in a crowded market? Long standing reputation and the professional conduct and appearance of our staff and vehicles

What role does customer feedback play in your innovation process? We continually gather customer satisfaction ratings from our customers through a program called “Gather up” in order to monitor our NPS score

What do you see as the biggest challenge facing your sector right now? The A.I. revolution is changing the way business is conducted. The consolidation of our industry and large infusion of funding by private equity is changing the nature of the industry.
