Why did you choose your industry?The challenge: For small businesses, what technologies or processes can improve operations and profitability. For Large businesses, what strategy, organizational alignment, or processes will offer business advantage over competition or improve customer experience. COGNOSCERE offers support and solutions for either business.
Who are your typical clients?Small businesses that need help with growth, large businesses that need sharper focus/(business process re-engineering) or an operations review. We offer services for decision support, process reengineering , strategy, change management, business development and operations management.
What do you like best about being in this industry?Tools and approach are constantly evolving meaning need for support for COGNOSCERE services continues. We are technology experts and can help companies understand benefits and pitfalls of technology and processes. Generative AI and Machine Learning have brought good value and aid in decision support. But these technologies alone cannot solve complex business problems or sustain business value.
What are common problems you see?Delay in acquiring support services to address business pain points. Often as part of past resort moves. While we are successful in most of our engagements, companies are better served with early engagement with management and technology consultants early on. Training and change management are critical factors in adoption and company success.
What advice/tips do you have for clients?Develop relationships with fellow businesses and leverage their experience and connections. Build a casual relationship with business consultants, accounting, operations, supply chain, human resourcing, local leaders (chamber of commerce, city councils, etc), local community colleges. Not that business leaders can spend countless hours away from the business but across a year, pick opportunities to represent and forge larger presence and understanding of business dependencies .
When is your busy season?End of government year and the beginning (from July through November)
What keeps you up at night?Consulting is inherently project based. As such, building enough future opportunity without overstressing the team. We got the market with team mates.
How do you market yourself to grow/expand your business?Relationship based and as trusted agent. Repeat customers and referred customers are our core base. Some new customers from outreach efforts like conferences or customer meetings.
How involved are you in the community?Board member for Palatka Airport Advisory, Support technology outreach through Oakleaf Missionary Baptist Church to High Schools, Support aviation outreach programs across the southeast, Mentorship to several young aviators and technology related pursuits.
What is your favorite not for profit or charity?Aviation Outreach via OBAP https://obap.org/ OBAP inspires excellence by removing barriers through exposure, skill development, access, mentoring and advocacy.
What advice would you give to someone thinking of getting into this business?Build relationships and business understanding of the ENTIRE impacts of business operations. Not just the processes or technologies, but the social and human impacts are just as important to sustained business growth and support.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?Photography, Motorcycling, Jazz and Aviation
