How long have you been in your industry?32 years
Why did you choose your industry?Helping companies realize their full potential with marketing that delivers outsized growth is fun and incredibly rewarding.
Who are your typical clients? We work with a wide range of clients, from B2B SaaS platforms, trade associations, and tourism and hospitality brands to DTC and multi-channel consumer brands. The common thread across all our clients is a desire to deliver excellent customer experiences and value.
What do you like best about being in this industry? We enjoy sharing in the success our clients experience when we work together. Several clients have had successful exits and hired us to help them do it again.
What are common problems you see?The biggest challenge we encounter is C-Suite leaders treating marketing as a cost center instead of a fundamental component of a company's success. We also encounter flawed business models that want marketing to compensate for their dysfunction, which never works.
What advice/tips do you have for clients?Find a marketing partner who treats your brand and budget like owners and has a track record of proven success in the areas you need their help.
When is your busy season?365 days a year.
What keeps you up at night?I sleep really well overall. Occasionally, when working through a complex strategic challenge, my mind will grind even as I sleep. I often will wake up with ideas to build upon as part of the solution.
How do you market yourself to grow/expand your business? We promote our business using the same methodology we provide clients. We do outbound and inbound lead generation targeting specific market segment targets and ICPs until we add business in that vertical. We also create and share thought leadership to demonstrate how we think and to stay top of mind.
How involved are you in the community?I am a KIPP: KC school board member, helping provide quality education for urban core children in Kansas City, Missouri.
What is your favorite not for profit or charity?Save the Children, or any charity focused on providing children access to a quality education.
What advice would you give to someone thinking of getting into this business?Build your business around a clear operating model and positioning that reflects your personality, values, and beliefs. Make sure what you stand for and commit to delivering for clients is what they value and are seeking from a partner. Treat your brand with the same care and feeding you provide your clients, and get after it!
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?I'm happiest on the water, boating, fishng or floating around with family.
