How long have you been in your industry?16 Years
Why did you choose your industry?The energy industry is exciting especially now with the energy transition occurring. We are in the middle of a complete infrastructure overhaul from generation to transmission to energy efficiency. The generation fleet is cleaner than ever and technologies are being developed to continue that trend. Wind, solar, nuclear, gas, storage including green hydrogen are driving this transformation.
Who are your typical clients?Landowners, utilities, corporations, municipalities, government agencies, elected officials and community stakeholders and the public.
What do you like best about being in this industry?I enjoy all aspects of the business from development, power marketing, analysis, M&A and innovation. I have been blessed to have had the opportunity to be involved all these roles on all the projects I have participated in.
What are common problems you see?Currently, the tariff issue is a problem as power producers and off-takers now need to consider how the tariffs impact the CAPEX of a project and power purchase agreement pricing.
What advice/tips do you have for clients?I am the best developer to work with in the industry! ;-)
When is your busy season?There is never a dull moment.
What keeps you up at night?There is nothing anymore that keeps me up at night. I’ve seen it all and in the end things work out just like it’s supposed to.
How do you market yourself to grow/expand your business?Networking, attending conferences, being active on LinkedIn, staying in touch with people and being available if possible to assist however I can when asked.
How involved are you in the community?I am on the board at Hunkapi. I am involved in the sober community here in Austin, Texas. I recently step down from the Salt Lake City Chamber of Commerce’s board of governors due to relocating to Austin.
What is your favorite not for profit or charity?Hunkapi a rehab facility in Scottsdale, Arizona where I am a board member. Hunkapi is an equine therapy focused facility.
What advice would you give to someone thinking of getting into this business?Do it. You won’t regret it.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?I enjoy playing tennis, boating, spending time at my house on the Florida Gulf Coast, traveling to Europe, visiting Utah to see my kids and hanging out with my fiancé Heidi along with our yorkie-poo Sophia Loren.
