How long have you been in your industry?18 years

Why did you choose your industry?I was injured beyond the capacity to serve as a Nuclear Engineer on submarines in the Navy, I had years of therapy and eventually became an OT with my GI Bill and Voc Rehab. After graduation, I eventually started working in home healthcare and found a considerable need for helping people find the correct safety equipment and people who can help them get it delivered and installed. Often these people will spends $1000's when the correct answer is usually only a couple hundred bucks.

Who are your typical clients?I work predominantly with seniors and people with a wide range of disabilities.

What do you like best about being in this industry?Autonomy to build a niche that truly helps people

What are common problems you see?Unregulated and clients expect contractors to know what to build or handymen to know what to install

What advice/tips do you have for clients?turn on a lightdrink more waterget rid of excess furniture and clutterget on and off the floor everyday while you can and then you always will

When is your busy season?people find creative walls to fall year round

How involved are you in the community?I am the President of the WSEC and co-founder and VP of the SSEC, where we provide grants to assist seniors in those areas of Jax to assist with their most pressing need in terms of being able to stay independently in their homes.

What is your favorite not for profit or charity?Westside Senior Enrichment Council (WSEC) or Southside Senior Enrichment Council (SSEC)

What advice would you give to someone thinking of getting into this business?network and learn about resources in the community before you start looking for clients. without those things the service is useless
