How long have you been in your industry?25yrs
Why did you choose your industry? My oldest memories of my late mother were going to open houses dreaming together of living somewhere other than the 100-year-old NJ Row house our family lived in. Fast forward, I can only think that rooted in those memories was the reason why in 1999 and 9 months pregnant, I told my husband that I was leaving my corporate accountant career and going to be a real estate agent.
Who are your typical clients?Work with mostly friends and referrals from them and past clients. We also attract many first time homebuyers, corporate relocation, military movers, and some high-net worth clients.
What do you like best about being in this industry? No day is the same. The process of buying and selling real estate is the same. No matter who is doing the buying and/or selling. It's the people and their unique situations that make the path different.
What are common problems you see?I see a lot of new real estate agents simply uneducated, not only in representing their customers, but in the basics of having their career long lasting and rewarding. They spend too much money chasing the trendy, shiny objects not knowing what it really takes to be successful.
What advice/tips do you have for clients? For my new real estate agents: Be consistent. Have a system and stick to it. Have a daily routine and stick to it. Know yourself, what you are good at and what you suck at. Focus on what is right in front of you and watch it expand. For my clients: If you want someone to work hard for you, be loyal to them. Real estate agents spend money and countless hours after normal hours for their clients solving their problems to get them what they want. We get satisfaction from their happiness and do not get a dime until that hour has come. When you find a good one, let the world know.
When is your busy season?Feb-May and Oct-Nov. I've closed more homes on Halloween than I can count!
What keeps you up at night?Building on the success academy, it is 100% social media and getting the word out to career changers.
How do you market yourself to grow/expand your business?I am working with a group to help my vision of the success academy to package it and get out to the masses online.
How involved are you in the community?I just stepped down from 5 years of co-program directing Jacksonville Galloway Run Club. I am current board president of Marathon High.
What is your favorite not for profit or charity?Marathon High
What advice would you give to someone thinking of getting into this business?Take my webinar.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?Improv! I have been taking improv classes for a couple years now and love being at the comedy club. I also enjoy acting and have a local agent for commercials.
