James:
Welcome to Living My Faith. I’m James Fenimore. Today we’ve got a very special guest joining us. Joining me is Anne Wooten. How are you doing?
Anne:
I’m doing great, James. I hope you are.
James:
Oh, I’m doing wonderful. I’m so thankful you’re here. And we start this show with one simple question. How are you living your faith?
Anne:
I am living by faith, by the grace of God, and helping to make a kingdom impact for the lost souls using my coaching and the writing. Because ultimately I want people to learn how to live daily with God, because it is a daily surrender. And so that’s what God’s called me to do, and he’s called me to do that to help others.
James:
I love that. So you’re really living your faith. I’m sure in other ways, but through your work you’ve really made it the centerpiece of your profession. And I know not everybody could really live it out that boldly. If you’re a plumber, it’s not that easy to live out your faith as a plumber. I mean, you could be praying and everything like that and living in his will, but you get to actually really bring it into the center of your business. Can you talk to that a little bit?
Anne:
Well, yes. Because it doesn’t matter if it’s through my writing or through coaching. What it does is if we are not connected with God, no matter if we’re already previously saved or born again, or maybe if somebody is coming to me lost, they’re broken and there’s disconnect, and there’s a reason for that brokenness.
So what I do, whether it’s writing, primarily is probably through coaching more. I take that client and I create it kind of like a discipleship. We get to the heart of where they are in their faith, and we walk through why they’re broken, why they feel stuck. And we get them to learn how they can learn and walk in the freedom that only Christ can bring, because we start identifying with him.
Once we receive Christ in our lives and we walk through that forgiveness, the most important thing to learn is that a lot of people don’t know what it takes to live that daily walk in their faith, and that is so crucial.
And so with all of that combined together, what I do is help them go out wherever they are in their communities, whatever their spiritual gifts are, talents are, and use them to create that global impact within their own communities. Because that ripple effect is what needs to be taken. And we really need that today even more than ever.
So that’s what God called me to do, from being an accountant for 50 years to doing this.
James:
Amen. So you said accountant.
Anne:
Yes.
James:
Okay, so I don’t cheat on my taxes.
Anne:
No, I don’t cheat on my taxes.
James:
Because I know you’ll catch me too.
James:
So as far as your coaching clientele goes, who kind of gravitates to you? Is it men, women, older or younger? Is there a demographic, or is it anybody?
Anne:
It really can honestly be anybody, but it’s primarily women. They are women who feel like they’re disconnected. That is the main person. They feel defeated, and that defeated feeling can be encompassed with so many things.
Usually when they’re broken, you have to get to the root of the problem before you can move forward, because you have to recognize and acknowledge what the root cause is. A lot of times that trauma goes back to our childhood. It did with me.
Basically I am my ideal client because I walked through it with God myself, and now he’s called me to help others. So there’s not a certain age group. I just want to help people with what I’ve had to walk through and help them have a closer connection with Jesus.
James:
All right, Coach Anne. I’m going to call you coach now. A lot of our audience members watch the show Living My Faith, and some of them are new to this and want to live their faith every day. Can you give some of those people that are starting this process a pointer on how they can live their faith every single day?
Anne:
The most important thing today is number one, that daily surrender. It is daily obedience. What that encompasses is we have to take every thought captive and make them obedient to Christ.
When we bring scripture into our everyday life, that is what it really takes, along with a daily prayer life. When you combine those two together, and I prefer starting in the morning because you start off your day that way, you start it off putting Jesus first.
That gets your focus on him because he should be the center of your focus before anything else. When you do that, other things will start to gravitate and you’ll be in that great connection with him, and you’re going to be able to hear his voice.
So I would say be in the Word, God’s Word definitely, but also be in prayer.
James:
That’s a beautiful message, especially in this day and age, because it’s so easy to grab that phone and start social media right off the bat. It’s like an Excel spreadsheet I say, garbage in, garbage out.
If you start your day with garbage, you’re going to put garbage out for the rest of the day. But if you’re going to start in with God’s Word, maybe a gratitude list of things we’re grateful for that Jesus has provided, it’s going to change the posture of your day.
So Coach Anne, I really appreciate that. Thank you so much. I know our audience does. And Anne, thank you so much for joining us today. I really thank you for sharing your wisdom and being a part of the show.
Anne:
Thank you. Well, thank you for having me. I appreciate it very much.
James:
