Welcome to Living My Faith, a weekly show that celebrates the everyday believers who are walking with Jesus not just on Sundays, but in every area of their lives. From relationships and parenting to health, habits, and home, our guests share how they keep their faith at the center of it all. Hosted in Jacksonville, Florida and supported by Christ-centered partners, Living My Faith is a space where real life meets real faith. Today, our host, James Fenimore, spoke with David Lykken.

Short company description:

Transformational Mortgage Solutions (TMS) is a management consulting firm that provides a full range of advisory & executive coaching services.

In what ways do you actively live out your faith in your daily life — at work, home, or in your community?

GREAT question. The way I do this is: (a) to make sure I faithfully and consistently start my day with what I call “Time with my Heavenly Father.” (b) Stay anchored to my primary calling, which is to “inspire, equip, and encourage” those to whom I am called to serve. (c) Do my best to stay open to hear from Holy Spirit and open to hear from my accountability partners. (d) Fight the urge to get distracted from staying true to the above three.

What encouragement or scripture has been especially meaningful to you in this season, and why?

“Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, TRUST also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.”  This scripture was anointed to me many years ago and remains as meaningful today as it was 50 years ago.  The reason this scripture is so meaningful is that it reminds me of how important it is to TRUST in the Lord, especially in these fast-changing times, as artificial intelligence reshapes our world.

What advice would you give to someone who’s struggling to live out their faith or looking to grow spiritually?

First, be sure to identify and understand your God-design. By that I mean, discovering how god created you to function in this world. For example, it took me years to realize that God designed me to inspire, equip, and encourage those He puts in my life. Second, is to realize that my/your work is my/your worship & my/your service to the Lord. When do we know (1) who we are, (2) how God designed us to operate in this life, and (3) in doing so, we are worshipping the Lord, then we are going to live fulfilled and satisfied lives and have the confidence that we will hear, “well done, though good and faithful servant” when we meet with the Lord at the end of time.
