From relationships and parenting to health, habits, and home, our guests share how they keep their faith at the center of it all. Hosted in Jacksonville, Florida, and supported by Christ-centered partners, Living My Faith is a space where real life meets real faith. Today, our host, Morgan Yonge, spoke with Lenora Turner of Back to One.

Short company description:

With leadership experience spanning nonprofit and Fortune 500 organizations, I speak, coach, and equip growing believers with practical tools and real-life stories that inspire lasting growth—for individuals and for teams—in faith, life, and leadership.

Can you share a moment or experience that significantly deepened or shaped your faith journey?

I have many of those moments, but the key one that brought me back to God was when I was 18, crying out to him for help with no strings attached, and he loved me right there. It changed my life.

In what ways do you actively live out your faith in your daily life — at work, home, or in your community?

Time with God in the morning, relationships and communication with family, including my 94-year-old father, the focus of my podcast and books, and as part of our prayer ministry team at church for our community and those who attend.

What encouragement or scripture has been especially meaningful to you in this season, and why?

Daniel 11:32 has long been a favorite verse of mine and Ephesians has been my favorite book for several years. Bottom line, it’s all about knowing God, asking for revelation in the knowledge of him, his calling, his inheritance and his power at work in us who believe. He is always the answer but with all of the strife and chaos in our world, I don’t know how anyone could walk in joy with stability, without knowing God.

What advice would you give to someone who’s struggling to live out their faith or looking to grow spiritually?

We all need to be a part of a community of believers so we can have family, learn, be encouraged, coached and build friendships. Ask God for revelation of who he is, ask him to help you be all in with Him, talk to him daily, feed yourself with the bible daily and say yes to his love and forgiveness. Be super honest and keep taking one step at a time with others who believe in the freedom Jesus paid for us, in full.

Morgan:
Welcome back to another episode of Living My Faith, where we highlight those who are faith based and making kingdom impact. I’m Morgan Young, joined today by Lenora Turner with Back to One. Getting personal with God. Lenora, thank you so much for being here.

Lenora
Thank you. It’s great to be here with you.

Morgan:
Yes. So tell me about Back to One and the great work that you’re doing.

Lenora
Well, Back to One is kind of the broader picture of whether I’ve written the books I’ve written. I have one on prayers after this, probably backwards on the screen, 100 Prayers for a Hundred Years, and I’m working on another one called, what is it called, it’s called Words to Create With. God spoke to me, gave me words to create with.

Lenora:
And things like that, as well as I have a podcast about being personal with God. So it kind of bursts the umbrella.

Morgan:
I love it. And let’s talk more about that, getting personal with God. We were talking a little bit off set about building that deep relationship with Him, and I want you to dive into that with me again.

Lenora:
Yeah. One of my all time favorite verses is Daniel chapter 11, verse 32, which really the second part of that verse that says, those that know their God will be strong and do exploits, will be strong and stand. And it’s just one of those that got impressed on me.

Lenora:
And another thing He said to me some years back was, Lenore, it’s not all about sin. It’s all about relationship. I mean, I was raised in a good Christian family I am very grateful for, but we had our own dysfunctions and our ways that you don’t realize it. You get this dysfunctional sometimes belief about God.

Lenora:
And it’s been a lifetime of getting to know Him better and praying. The thing I’m doing constantly now is from Ephesians one, praying God, give me wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You.

Lenora:
And then He reminded me there’s more even to that verse. I want wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of God and the hope of His calling, what He’s called us to, to be His children. He’s so excited.

Morgan:
Ephesians chapter one. I mean, people want to know what’s the will of God, what’s the will of God. And it says over and over in Ephesians chapter one, the primary will of God is that you are His child, that He made you.

Lenora:
You didn’t make yourself. He does the making and the saving, and He makes you His own. His whole plan is to want to adopt you, pour out His lavish self on you, and then we get to grow up in Him and then spend all of eternity with Him.

Lenora:
So it’s much less about, do I do all the things that you want me to do, as it is His will is for you to be His own, His very own child, which He paid for through the blood of Jesus Christ on that cross.

Morgan:
Absolutely. And so well said. He is such a good father. This week, actually, I am getting married, and my father here on earth is doing everything he can to make my wedding beautiful, while my Father in heaven is doing the same.

Morgan:
And I just feel that through and through that our Father has control over the weather. He has control over all of these things, and I can rest assured knowing that both of my fathers, earthly and in heaven, love me and are doing what they can so that I can relax.

Lenora:
So, yeah, congratulations. I’m amazed you can stay focused when you’re getting married this week.

Morgan:
That’s why I’m going on, doing the best that I can, you know.

Lenora:
Yeah. My daughter’s wedding planner and wedding coordinator and adores the process. She’s married herself. I have two amazing grandbabies now, and one more on the way. Actually, two on the way. My son’s wife is also pregnant, and so it’s just exciting times.

Lenora:
But congratulations.

Morgan:
Oh, thank you so much. And not to get too far off track, so back to you. Tell me, what are you most excited about this year when you’re looking at all the things that you have going on?

Lenora
Really, I’m excited when it comes to, funny, it’s going to sound cliche, but getting to know Him even better.

Lenora:
I felt inspired like a year or so ago out of John chapter 14. I don’t know what translation I was reading, but about a sense of honor. I want you to get comfortable in My love. I want you to get comfortable there.

Lenora:
And I was like, that’s a process based on whatever you’ve experienced. God loves us so intensely that getting comfortable in His love is letting Him use your imagination.

Morgan:
Let your time of meditation be about His goodness. Can you say, God, show me how to have good expectations?

Lenora:
That hope in God is not cross my fingers, I hope, I hope, hope. It’s actually a good expectation and anchored good expectation. That’s what God’s kind of hope, the original word, comes from.

Lenora:
So this year is about, He told me, a really a sense, I wish He always talked to me like this, but at times I have a clear sense.

Lenora:
When He told me, I let go my amazing job two years ago to head back towards more like biblical ministry.

Lenora:
Although you can be a minister and have a powerful impact in business, and I love both, but I felt like He told me, take time to rest, because there’s going to be a season where you won’t have as much time to rest.

Lenora:
And people thought I just wanted a different job. No, I would have retired at that company, had profound opportunities.

Lenora:
I worked with global executives. I was able to direct a program that had some international impact and worked across the U.S.

Lenora:
So I wasn’t looking for that kind of change. I just felt the draw to go back towards, I used to be in other full time ministry at the church level.

Lenora:
And so I’m excited about just keep taking steps, keep taking steps, and seeing where I can have a great influence.

Lenora:
Because I love to share the good news, the gospel of Jesus Christ, and bring an impact to individual lives and groups.

Morgan:
I absolutely love that. Thank you so much for your time and for what you are doing to create Kingdom Impact.

Lenora:
Thank you very much for having me. It was a pleasure. And again, blessings on your marriage.Morgan:
