How long have you been in your industry?13 years
Why did you choose your industry?I felt like it chose me. I discovered things that were not created yet, therefore it gave me an outlet to create and motivate other students to do the same.
Who are your typical clients?Nurses, Doctors, Cosmetic Therapists and Estheticians who want training in laser hair removal, laser tattoo removal and electrolysis.
What do you like best about being in this industry? The ability to teach others how to run their own practice rather than working for someone else.
What are common problems you see?A lack of standards in some situations however there could be too many standards preventing someone from practicing who has had the proper training from a licensed/accredited school such as ours. It can also be difficult to deal with the mulitude of baords we are on throughout the country since each state is different.
What advice/tips do you have for clients?Never give up, slow and steady wins the race. Someone first starting a practice should have ample capital to invest but at the same time not get over his/her head where your drowning it costs. A good social media presense along with quality servcies seems to be one of the best practices someone can do when starting a practice.
When is your busy season?Spring and Summer
What keeps you up at night?Making sure the books are in the right order and that all of our credentials are up to date with the VA, Commission Board, MYCAA, Work Force Development and State Boards we are on.
How do you market yourself to grow/expand your business?Word of mouth can travel really well but lately we have been making appearances on TV shows that are local in the Lexington, KY area. Good social media that is engaging can be very beneficial as well and increasing quality without spending too much money.
How involved are you in the community?I go to church and participate in donating to the St. Jude's Hospital as well as other charities in the area.
What is your favorite not for profit or charity?Kravinol
What advice would you give to someone thinking of getting into this business?Be patient, this is not a get rich over night process. It takes gradual time to build a successful practice.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?Golf, outdoors
