James:
Welcome back to Living My Faith on Faith Works TV. I’m James Fenimore, and today we’ve got a real treat for you. I’m joined by Kevin Wargaming. Kevin, how are you?
Kevin:
So far, so good. Great to be here. Thanks, James.
James:
I love that. It would be bad if it wasn’t great to be here, right? So, Kevin, I’ve got one simple question for you: How are you living your faith?
Kevin:
Man, I love the question. It’s funny because last night I was thinking about this—what a topic, what a conversation. At first, when I booked this, I thought, “Okay, what are all the things I’m doing right? I’ll just come in with that.”
But last night, let’s just call it the Holy Spirit—I’m a Christian, I believe in Jesus Christ, I believe He died for my sins—He got ahold of me and said, “Well, how good are you really at this?” And I wrestled with that. Honestly, it was kind of a sleepless night.
My wife is out of town, so I’m running the household these past few days. In the middle of the night, my daughter comes in with a bloody nose. She’s screaming, crying—it’s a big deal for her. I’m trying to help her, telling her, “Please, settle down. I know what’s best for you. Let’s work through this together.”
And suddenly I thought, Oh… that’s it. I love her so much. I know what’s best for her. She’s rebelling, she’s scared, she doesn’t understand. And it hit me—I wonder if that’s how the Lord sees me sometimes. Not frustrated, but loving me, guiding me, knowing what’s best even when I’m resisting.
So when I think about how I’m living my faith, it comes down to this: I need to get out of the way. I need to let the sanctification process take root—get quiet, listen, and really try to hear what the Lord is calling me to do.
James:
Wow. That’s really profound. How do you live that out? What examples can we share with the audience to help them get out of their own way, too?
Kevin:
Sure. There are areas where I’ve grown over the years, and areas where I’m still right in the middle of the struggle. I was saved in 2010, baptized in 2012, and for a long time, things went really well.
Then everything seemed to hit at once: I lost a great job, my stepfather—one of my best friends—passed away, my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and even my dog died. It was a season of loss.
But through that, I learned that sometimes things are removed from us so we can know God more deeply.
Now, thankfully, things are going well again. But I’m trying to carry forward the habits I had during the hard times: praying more, reading Scripture, looking for things to be grateful for—even when it’s tough.
These days I pray over my wife, my kids, and I carve out time in the morning to be quiet—turn off the news, turn off the noise, and just be with Him. I’m not perfect at it, but I’m intentional.
And in my business—as a consultant and coach—living my faith means being selective in who I work with. I spend real time with potential clients before money is ever discussed. They don’t have to be Christian, but our values need to align. If I’m going to help someone grow in influence and success, I want to be confident it’s used for good, not harm.
James:
Right—you’re not going to empower someone to go take advantage of people.
Kevin:
Exactly.
James:
I respect that a lot. Discernment matters—in our walk with the Lord and in everything else. I also love what you said about the noise of the world. So many people struggle with that right now.
Do you find it difficult? Any tips or practical tools to help people tune out the noise?
Kevin:
I could talk about this for an hour, but I’ll give you a few things. Our pastor says, “Focus is a superpower.” I remind myself of that often. So here’s what we do:
The phone goes in a drawer, literally, when I’m working deeply or spending time with my kids.
We limit the news in our home. I think one of the worst ways to start your day is turning on the national news. It’s ten minutes at most in our house, and even that’s rare.
I spend ten minutes each morning in silence. After prayer and Bible reading, I sit quietly. No input. No noise. We’re not wired for constant bombardment.
Those are just a few of the things we practice consistently as a family.
James:
If people want to find you and learn more about your work, where can they go?
Kevin:
The easiest place is the website: mymentorsllc.com.
The business is called My Mentors LLC. You can find all my social media there and lots of content on the topics I talk about.
James:
Kevin, I really appreciate you taking the time today. Thank you for all the wisdom you’ve shared and for showing us how you live your faith. This has been Living My Faith on Faith Works TV. I’m James Fenimore, and I’ll see you next time.
