Short company description:

Stacey: SBG Publishing & Media is a faith-based storytelling and media brand I founded to help people find freedom and healing through honest conversations, books, and podcasting. I create content that blends real-life recovery, encouragement, and biblical truth to help others grow in faith and purpose.

Vernita: So, you have a story to tell, but don’t have a clue where to start? Whether it’s a devotional, a fantasy novel, or the next bestseller, come work with a Publishing Consultant who will put in the time and effort to help you get your extraordinary book to print.

Can you share a moment or experience that significantly deepened or shaped your faith journey?

Stacey: My faith journey deepened at the lowest point of my life—when I was homeless. I had been battling addiction since I was 13, and I don’t just mean drugs. I mean everything I could reach for to numb pain—every drug, and even food. Around that same time, my mom was dying of cancer, and I was spiraling. I left Georgia and went to another state because we thought we had shelter and help there, but it ended up being the worst mistake of my life… and also the best mistake of my life. Out there, everything I leaned on ran out. I couldn’t hustle my way through it. I couldn’t “fix myself” anymore. I was broken, scared, and exhausted—and I hit a moment where I literally fell to my knees and cried out to Jesus. Not religious words—real desperation. And that’s where I met Him. I started experiencing peace and strength that didn’t make sense for what I was living in. He didn’t just help me get sober—He started healing the deeper layers underneath the addiction. That season changed everything. It’s the reason I write, talk, and preach the way I do today—because I’m not sharing a theory, I’m sharing what God pulled me out of. It’s also what pushed me to pursue my education in Christian ministry. That homeless season brought me to the end of myself—and straight into the arms of Jesus. Now my faith isn’t an idea to me. It’s my life, one day at a time.

Vernita: When the Lord led me to take a leap of faith and leave welfare behind. I trust Him no matter what and left the outcome in His hands, which has been remarkable.

In what ways do you actively live out your faith in your daily life — at work, home, or in your community?

Stacey: I live out my faith by trying to represent Jesus in simple, consistent ways—integrity, kindness, and doing what I say I’ll do. At work, I aim to create content that builds people up, not tears them down. At home, I pray, stay in the Word, and try to lead with patience and humility. In my community, I encourage others—especially people who are recovering or rebuilding—through conversations, my podcast, writing, and showing up when someone needs support.

Vernita: Seizing the opportunity to remind anybody that God will make a way out of no way. Whether they complain about the weather, their health, or their circumstances, I will try to encourage them by helping them see their situation from a different perspective, offering help, or sharing an encouraging word, devotion, or a song. I’ll even pray for them.

What encouragement or scripture has been especially meaningful to you in this season, and why?

Stacey: Isaiah 40:31 has been especially meaningful to me: “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” That verse reminds me to persevere with God’s strength—not my own—especially when I’m building, serving, and pushing forward in obedience. It keeps me humble and steady, because I know I can’t do any of this in pride, ego, or my own power. And Romans 12:2 goes right with it because it’s the foundation of real change: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” I truly believe we don’t get anywhere unless God transforms the way we think. What we take in, what we focus on, and what we put out all reflect our mindset—and the Holy Spirit is the One who renews it. These two scriptures keep me moving forward with integrity, endurance, and a heart that stays dependent on God.

Vernita: Jeremiah 29:11, Joel 2:28

What advice would you give to someone who’s struggling to live out their faith or looking to grow spiritually?

Stacey: Start small—but start. The biggest thing is to establish a real relationship with God, not just religion. Talk to Him honestly—no pretending. Just real talk with God. Then read a little Scripture every day and ask Him to help you understand it. I always pray for the gift of revelation and discernment so I can not only understand the Word, but actually apply it to my life. Be intentional about who you’re around—stay close to people who strengthen your faith, not people who pull you backward. And be willing to let go of pride and ego. God isn’t asking you to be perfect—He’s asking you to come closer. Obedience gets easier when you remember you’re not doing it alone. Invite the Holy Spirit into every area of your life—your thoughts, habits, relationships, and decisions—and that’s where real growth begins.

Vernita: Trust the Lord no matter what and leave the outcome in His hands. Likewise, encourage them to get help, even if that is counsel. However, be careful who to trust. I’ll even offer to listen to them. I will listen to their concerns and allow the Holy Spirit to guide me on how to respond. Then, pray that they are ready to receive His Word of knowledge. Also, remind them that obedience to God reaps a mighty harvest, though sometimes, the waiting season may stretch their faith. Still, never give up or stop trusting the Lord.

Morgan:
Welcome back to another episode of Living My Faith, where we highlight those who are making Kingdom Impact. I’m Morgan Yonge, joined today by Vernita Simmons and Stacey B Greene. Stacey: and Vernita, thank you so much for joining.

Stacey:
Thank you for having me.

Vernita:
It is a pleasure to be here. Blessings.

Morgan:
Thank you. I’m so glad. So starting with you, Stacey. Let’s go broad here. How are you living your faith?

Stacey:
Well, my my story started when I was 13 years old. I was a day to day. Everything under the sun started a food. And then as I got over, it travels through a thousand other things. And so today I said, you’re sober and I’m living my faith through just my journey and my voice. I am surrendering everything to Jesus.

Stacey:
For a long time, I tried to manage everything and control everything on my own. And it didn’t work. So I just see Jesus every day. Even even in uncomfortable moments. He is he is where I my go to and yeah, I just I want to bring others into the light. I choose to do that.

Stacey:
I want to just help people through my voice. I have a podcast. I’ve written a couple of books. A Journey Towards Myself was the first one, and that was about my Mosley, about my recovery. And then the second one is called Layers, and it’s about peeling back the flesh to get to who you really are and to find real freedom.

Stacey:
And I also have a podcast which is faith based, and it is called Real Talk with Stacey B Greene, and I just I am just extremely passionate about bringing people in addiction out of addiction. I feel like there’s just so many people suffering out there and it’s so important that they realize that they can’t do it on their own.

Stacey:
And it’s only through God who redeemed me and He transformed me from the inside out.

Morgan:
Absolutely. And only Jesus can. So I absolutely love your story. Thank you so much. So switching to you, Vernita, and we’ll come back to you, Stacey. But Vernita, how are you living your faith?

Vernita:
Well, thank you. Great question. Well, when I was young, I was raised by my Big Mama, and my Big Mama was blind. So I became her designated Bible reader. I would read the Bible to her, and she was the type of woman that impacted the community where we lived. If you needed food, Big Mama’s house became the grocery store.

Vernita:
If you didn’t have a soul, Big Mama’s house became the phone booth. She left us a legacy. And one way that she used to help people, she would write letters on their behalf if they needed help with a charity or whatever. Just listening to her read the letters, how hers was so eloquent, inspired me to become a writer.

Vernita:
And at nine years old, I wrote my first play. I read in school. I met other people. I would tell them, I’m going to write a book one day. And one day in a study hall, a girl had mentioned a book another girl had said she admired. I read it in a magazine the night before.

Vernita:
Now I knew she knew she was lying, but it just made me that much more able to trust the Lord. And years later, before you knew it, my words had been written in magazines. So my journey of faith is using words, God’s word, to inspire, empower, to make disciples of Christ. We can do a lot with words, and I want my words to make people feel better.

Vernita:
When I leave your presence, you should feel better, not worse. You should be encouraged, not discouraged. You should be feeling full of joy. So that’s what I’m going to bring to people through my words, through God’s—

Morgan:
Word.

Vernita:
Love lives.

Morgan:
Yes. Oh, I love that so much. Thank you so much, Vernita, for sharing. So back to you, Stacey. I want to know what is something that you have been chewing on in the Word. What is it? Maybe a Bible verse or a passage that has stuck out to you recently?

Stacey:
Well, I have a few, but I love Romans 12:2, about don’t be conformed to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. I love that because the enemy, that’s where he starts, and that’s where he started with me when I was 13 years old.

Stacey:
And it’s just as we can start to ask God to transform our minds and we use that weapon, it’s so powerful. It just changes everything. And then I also have another one that’s on my business card, and it’s Isaiah 40:31 because I feel like it’s about pressing or bearing through things and just fighting.

Stacey:
I mean, I was homeless at times, so I’ve had to fight through so many different things. And the Lord just came to me so boldly and loudly and told me He was going to take me through spiritual bootcamp. And He did that. He transformed me, like a Paul to Saul moment.

Stacey:
And He took the temptation, everything away. And this is available to so many people. So those two verses really are deep for me.

Morgan:
Wow. How beautiful. He is so good all the time. So Vernita, I’m going to ask you the same question. What is a verse or a passage that has just brought you through the tough times or just stands out to you these days?

Vernita:
Okay, I’ll share what I just shared recently on my podcast. Matthew six, where it says for us not to worry about tomorrow or what we eat or drink because He keeps feeding the birds. So when I tell people when we’re in a new year, just know that if He takes care of birds and squirrels—because I go to the park and pray and I watch the squirrels—they aren’t worried about anything.

Vernita:
Think about all the snow in the region where I’m at. It’s covered in snow, but the birds in that region don’t go grocery shopping. They know their Heavenly Father will provide for them.

Vernita:
So whatever the circumstance you find yourself in, whatever hope from last year you pulled into this year, whatever situations you’re facing, He didn’t say we wouldn’t have problems. They’re coming. But God is our provider. If He chose to put you on this earth, He’s going to keep taking care of you.

Morgan:
Amen to that. I absolutely love that and what you’ve both shared. Thank you for sharing your testimony. We had two amazing authors on today. Look at you guys. You’re beautiful, and I’m so grateful.

Stacey:
Thank you so much. Such a blessing to be here and appreciate that.

Vernita:
Yes. And you like you too. Yes.Morgan:
