How long have you been in your industry?7
Why did you choose your industry?I believe the non-profit industry has an overwhelming amount of beautiful stories that need told, and can benefit so much from leveraging these stories. That being said, non-profits often don't have the bandwidth to tell these stories in the most impactful way.
Who are your typical clients?non-profits, broadcast organizations, smaller start ups
What do you like best about being in this industry?I deeply enjoy the chance to learn about such a wide net of industries and people that I might not be bumping elbows with, if I weren't interviewing them.
What are common problems you see?A fear of taking chances and being unique. Too many orgs are afraid to look different, because it feels scary.
What advice/tips do you have for clients?The most important thing you can leverage, are your stories, and the stories of those you serve or seek to serve.
When is your busy season?spring/summer
What keeps you up at night?Nothing. I like my rest.
How do you market yourself to grow/expand your business?I build lots of in-person relationships through networking groups and previous relationships. I also try to intentionally connect through LinkedIn.
How involved are you in the community?participating and leading occasionally at my local run club
What is your favorite not for profit or charity?Animal Friends
What advice would you give to someone thinking of getting into this business?Just don't go to film school. Start offering projects for free, start charing a little bit of money, then start charging more money.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?trail running, skiing, climbing, basketball, comedy, hosting friends, church
