Why did you choose your industry?I have a natural inclination toward both operations and leader development. After achieving all I wanted to in the corporate business world, I wanted to find something that aligned with my values and passions. This just feels right.
Who are your typical clients?Individuals looking to level up though understanding where they may be falling short. Individuals going through a transition. Leaders interested in having a thought partner to bounce ideas off of. Small businesses looking to identify problem areas and gaps in their operations. Small businesses looking for ways to understand and improve their culture.
What do you like best about being in this industry?Its kind of a weird thing, but the creativity of it. Toward the end of my corporate career, I felt very stifled and was looking for a way to express "how" we get things done in new ways. Consulting allows me to explore all of the options instead of just one. I also like being able to help others find their aha moments.
What are common problems you see?I think this is really personal to me, but I would say it is too grounded in theory. There are a lot of coaching professionals out there that have a lot of really good training in the theory of leadership, but honestly, understanding the theory will not help a leader succeed. They need practical, common sense approaches to determine what's not working and what might work.
How do you market yourself to grow/expand your business?Right now this has been limited to former colleagues and people I met through my professional interactions, so much of this is word of mouth based on reputation. I am starting a newsletter and I am a bit more active on LinkedIn than I had been while I was in corporate America to try to reach a new audience.
