How long have you been in your industry?5 Years
Why did you choose your industry? There are two key reasons why Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) is the perfect fit for me. First, my 17 years of experience in the medical field have given me a well-rounded perspective. I've seen healthcare from the patient care side, worked in IT supporting healthcare workflows, and now excel as an Epic analyst within patient access. This experience allows me to understand the challenges healthcare providers face from multiple angles.Secondly, my background in Health Information Management (HIM) gives me a deep understanding of medical coding, billing practices, and healthcare regulations. This knowledge base is essential for optimizing RCM processes and ensuring accurate reimbursement. Combining my passion for healthcare with my expertise in HIM, I believe RCM offers a unique opportunity to leverage my skills and make a significant impact on the financial health of healthcare practices.
Who are your typical clients? We're proud to partner with a wide range of healthcare practices! We understand that every practice has unique needs, our RCM solutions are designed to be adaptable and scalable. We support family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics. We streamline billing for common consultations, preventive care services, and chronic disease management. As well as general surgeons, orthopedists, ophthalmologists. Our team ensures efficient insurance processing for complex procedures and maximizes reimbursements. Lastly, we partner with dermatologists, dentists, cardiologists, and more, addressing their specific billing challenges.
What do you like best about being in this industry? The medical field is evolving, with a growing emphasis on value-based care models. Working alongside a reputable RCM company like Battle Health would provide valuable insights into the financial side of healthcare delivery. This knowledge would complement my clinical skills and prepare me for the future of medicine.
What are common problems you see?A high rate of denied claims can significantly impact a practice's cash flow. Effectively appealing denied claims requires time and resources. Inefficient processes and errors can lead to hidden costs associated with rework and lost revenue.
What advice/tips do you have for clients?Streamlining your RCM can be a game changer. By reducing errors and speeding up collections, you'll see a healthier bottom line. Ultimately, a financially secure practice benefits everyone you, your staff, and most importantly, your patients.
When is your busy season? While there can be fluctuations, I'm designed to be continuously accessible and responsive to client needs.
What keeps you up at night? In this industry, there's always room to learn and improve. We stay on top of the latest regulations and best practices to ensure we're delivering the most efficient RCM solutions to our clients. Maybe it's not sleepless nights, but we're constantly brainstorming ways to refine our services and stay ahead of the curve. The healthcare landscape is ever evolving, and we want to evolve alongside it to best serve our clients' needs.
How do you market yourself to grow/expand your business? We send targeted email campaigns with informative content related to RCM best practices. Healthcare conferences and industry events provide valuable opportunities to connect with potential clients face to face. As a future doctor attending such events, I can also network and build relationships with colleagues, mentioning Battle Health's services when the conversation leans towards RCM challenges. I host virtual meetings to discuss RCM best practices and address common pain points experienced by healthcare providers. We maintain an active social media presence on platforms like LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook.
How involved are you in the community?Winning the President's Volunteer Service Award last year for my community work with organizations like HOBY, Crisis Hotline volunteering, and the JABA Club located here in Jacksonville supporting those with alcoholism, solidified my passion for helping others. These experiences enhanced my communication, leadership, and emotional intelligence.
What is your favorite not for profit or charity?I would say LIVESTRONG. They offers support and resources for people living with cancer.
What advice would you give to someone thinking of getting into this business?Emphasize the importance of a solid understanding of the healthcare industry, including medical coding, billing regulations, and current reimbursement models. Effective communication with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients is essential for successful client relationships. The healthcare industry is constantly evolving. A willingness to adapt to new regulations and technologies is crucial for long term success.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?In my downtime, I love getting creative with candle making! There's something so therapeutic about choosing the perfect scents and crafting something beautiful for my home. Family time is also a huge priority for me. We love spending weekends at the beach. And travel! Exploring new places and cultures is a passion of mine.
