How long have you been in your industry?4 years
Why did you choose your industry?I traveled for many years as a Cybersecurity consultant and loved meeting new people and cultures and realized how easy it was. I was also a World Geography teacher that enjoyed teaching others about other cultures. I get the best of both worlds in helping others while meeting new cultures myself.
Who are your typical clients?Families- Parents in 30's & 40's with some multi-generational travel. I also work with specialty groups and travel clubs. 90% of the households I work with make over $150k per year.
What do you like best about being in this industry?Opening the door for others to learn new and unique parts of the world.
What are common problems you see?Technology advances within the travel industry (back end of booking platforms and supplier technology from other countries, specifically).
What advice/tips do you have for clients? My best advice I can give my clients is to simply travel. Whether it around the world or across their state. Get out of their comfort zones and try something new.
When is your busy season?Busiest booking time of the year is Jan-March; Busiest travel times are Summer and Winter Holidays
What keeps you up at night?Worrying about the logistics of a large group and their travel arrangements getting cancelled or a tragedy striking
How do you market yourself to grow/expand your business?I build through ads, hashtags, and by discussing unique travel topics.
How involved are you in the community?I stay involved with kids. I coach youth basketball and soccer. I volunteer coach the UIL social studies team at the local elementary and volunteer my time at the school whenever needed.
What is your favorite not for profit or charity?Gary Sinise Foundation
What advice would you give to someone thinking of getting into this business?Be ready to put in some hours because there is so much to learn. Because there is so much you need to find a niche and learn it well.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?I like to travel with my family and play xbox and read
