How long have you been in your industry?20+ Years
Why did you choose your industry? The day to day is constantly changing, and there's always an opportunity to make a genuine connection. Surprisingly, the Jewelry industry is fascinating from both an educational and technology perspective; example: Lab Grown Diamonds.
Who are your typical clients?Everyone - we pride ourselves on making everyone feel welcome at our store. We actively go against the stigma of a stuffy, snooty jewelry store. We'll happily repair a piece of costume jewelry because it has sentimental value to our customers, and in the same day we'll restore a $50k diamond ring back to it's original luster.
What do you like best about being in this industry?Everything! From learning and educating on gemstones, upholding our level of customer service, the ability to connect with our customers, and most of all...Typically customers work with us during a time of celebration: engagements, birthdays, anniversaries, etc....It's fun!
What are common problems you see?Specifically to the jewelry industry, poor, pushy customer service.
What advice/tips do you have for clients? In life, you'll need a trustworthy attorney, banker, and jeweler. Let us earn your trust!
When is your busy season?Luckily, all months except July and August
What keeps you up at night?Grand business ideas, chasing butterflies.
How do you market yourself to grow/expand your business?Targeted digital marketing, SEO, repeat clientele -- after 23 years of being in business, we're seeing the sons & daughters, grandkids, etc, coming in to buy their jewelry simply because their parents recommend us!
How involved are you in the community? We support local charities like Anchor Lancaster, the Lancaster Make a Wish, sponsoring local dance studios, and accommodating our customers with limited mobility by visiting their retirement homes.
What is your favorite not for profit or charity?ANCHOR LANCASTER
What advice would you give to someone thinking of getting into this business?Control your inventory costs -- You can't sell from an empty wagon, but your wagon needs to be full of appropriate products.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?My family is my #1 source of energy, love, and entertainment. But I can also play a mean guitar.
