Why did you choose your industry?Purpose driven work that is needed in the veteran space. My own rough transition from the military
Who are your typical clients?Active duty service members, veterans, spouses AND members of the non-DoD Intelligence Community (IC) and our Five-Eyes partner countries of Canada, UK, Australia, & New Zealand
What do you like best about being in this industry?The impact I can have on those I walk beside.
What are common problems you see?Funding for non-profits serving veterans isn't at the forefront of society because the country isn't in "outward conflict" and therefore not important to the average citizen/corporation. Still, 200,000 members leave the military every year.
What advice/tips do you have for clients?Spend some time focusing on yourself. Look inward at your desires, wants, needs. Ultimately, a "job" isn't what most people dream about...but being happy is.
When is your busy season?Year round but the holiday season tends to slow a bit.
What keeps you up at night?Tomorrow's to-do list. We're a very small organization of 13 employees geographically dispersed and we're working w/ 1500 new people a year.
How do you market yourself to grow/expand your business?Word of mouth from a trusted source "3rd party validation" is the best way. Way too many orgs that people know nothing about but if 1-3 trusted friends recommend us, the 4th person will believe. Podcasts and articles are good to expand our aperture.
How involved are you in the community?Local meet-ups, networking events, sporting events

What advice would you give to someone thinking of getting into this business?Know what calls to your heart and why you want to do this work.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?Outdoors, working out, traveling, fly fishing
