How long have you been in your industry?30+ Years
Why did you choose your industry?I was always artistic from my early childhood. I was always drawing and painting. I was originally interested in fine art but was drawn to commercial art in high school. It happens that one of my uncles owned his own advertising agency in New York City and he was my inspiration.
Who are your typical clients? My typical clients come from the CPG Food, Snacks and Drink industry and most recently the financial industry.
What do you like best about being in this industry?I absolutely love to see one of the brands that I've created on the store shelves, on billboards and even on television. That really is exciting to me.
What are common problems you see?Cost: Branding can be expensive because it involves significant investments in advertising and publicity.Budget constraints: Marketers often have to balance budget constraints with the need to generate revenue.Brand relevance: Brands need to stay relevant to new demographics by engaging with their target audience.
What advice/tips do you have for clients?Secure ample funding. Enough to launch and successfully market your brand. Too many clients want to market their products in the right way, but only get enough funding to bring them part of the way. If you want your brand to be successful, you need the funds to get it there. If a client is under funded, we have a few contacts that can help them.
When is your busy season? We are busy most of the year, occasionally it slows down in the summer months because many of the Marketing Directors we work with go on vacation.
What keeps you up at night?Everything... I worry about every aspect of my clients business and only wish the very best for each of them. When they go through tough times, it takes its toll on me.
How do you market yourself to grow/expand your business? When we successfully brand a product and bring it to market, we springboard off of that success and show other companies what we've done and that we can do the same thing for them.
How involved are you in the community? We are saturated in our local community. Most recently we took part in the local 4th of July celebration by creating posters and fliers to attract supporters and we created all of the ads for local businesses that were displayed on a digital truck that traveled around the celebration areas.
What is your favorite not for profit or charity?Justins Wish (www.justinswish.org)
What advice would you give to someone thinking of getting into this business?Start out working for others for a few years and gain as much experience as you can in all different areas of the business. Then find a partner that compliments your skills with different skills of their own and then, you can launch your business.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?I have two classic Corvettes that I restored and I love to tinker with them on the weekends. I also have a Harley Davidson Motorcycle that I ride with a local group.
