A program amplifying marginalized voices in emerging cinema
New York, NY — Project Feel proudly announces The Other Lens, a short film program celebrating emerging filmmakers who challenge norms and expand representation in cinema. Rooted in the belief that innovation comes from embracing difference, The Other Lens uplifts underrepresented creatives whose stories inspire empathy and social change.
“The Other Lens showcases independent filmmakers whose unique perspectives drive creative evolution,” says Christine Arquero, Program Director. “We aim to offer opportunity and promote empathy for everyone’s ‘otherness.’”
The inaugural lineup features: Fu Yang (Fortune Cookie), blending stop-motion artistry and immigrant narratives; Asuka Lin (Into the Emerald Sea), a Japanese-Taiwanese director featured at London and Edinburgh festivals; Tess Sullivan & Sara Carpenter (Extended Warranty), co-founders of Burn the Witch Productions; Bijan Aarabi (My Endless Eclipse), whose work screened at Leeds and Hong Kong; and Cristobal Abugaber (The Perfect Tomato), a Mexican writer-director recognized at Indy Shorts and Guanajuato.
The program premieres November 6, 2025, at DCTV Firehouse Cinema in Manhattan. Winners receive prizes from The Filmmakers Academy, Musicbed, Yellowbrick, and The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute, with goodies from sponsor Chifles. Tickets available at projectfeel.com.
