Welcome back to Living My Faith on Faith Works TV. I’m James Fenimore, and today I’m joined by William Lavant. William, how are you doing?
William:
Great! How are you? Thank you for having me.
James:
Thank you so much for joining us. William, let’s start with the big question: How are you living your faith?
William:
Living my faith? Honestly, right now—sitting in this chair. When I think about faith, the heart of it is trust. I live my faith every day by trusting and believing that I’ll wake up to see each day, each second. Faith is such a powerful word. For me, it’s about living life to the fullest and trusting God in the process. So yes—I’m definitely living my faith.
James:
Do you ever feel a struggle in that?
William:
Absolutely. Without faith… well, I don’t want to get too biblical, but the Bible says without faith it’s impossible. Struggle is part of life—it’s a work in progress for all of us. And honestly, I don’t believe you can have true faith without struggle. You need that test to prove and strengthen your faith. So yes, the struggle is real—and necessary.
James:
I love that. For people watching, how can they overcome those struggles when they encounter them?
William:
The only way is prayer. And you have to live life—you can’t be afraid of it. Have a healthy fear of God, yes, but don’t be afraid to live. Focus on the positive things throughout your day. There’s always negative, and we’re promised trials and tribulations. But you need something beautiful to hold onto—something that reminds you of God’s goodness. That helps a lot.
James:
Thank you for sharing that. That’s really helpful. Now, you have some exciting things happening in your life. Let’s start with one—talk to me about this album.
William:
Oh my goodness—Bethel. What can I say? This album wasn’t even supposed to happen. But long story short, it takes me back to the core of who I am. Bethel is named after my late grandfather, Pastor William Lavon of Bethel Sweetwater. He pastored there for years. Bethel is where my very life began.
People say they were raised in church—I was born and raised in church. But of course, struggles came and life happened.
This album is dedicated to my grandfather. He’s the one who started me singing at age four. He called me out in front of his huge congregation—no singing lessons, no anything. Just choir rehearsal back then. But that moment… that’s where my gift found me. Bethel is my beginning.
James:
Watching you talk about that—you just lit up. It was a privilege to witness.
William:
Because it’s so special. It’s not just music—it’s my life. I started writing some of these songs as a teenager. This album took about ten years of living to create.
James:
That’s beautiful.
William:
Absolutely.
James:
So this is more than just an album.
William:
So much more. Like I said, I didn’t plan this. I didn’t even want to do music anymore. But everything happened exactly the way it was supposed to, and I’m glad it did.
James:
It sounds like this album took faith.
William:
It took a lot of faith—faith to produce it, faith to release it, faith that it would be supported. And I’m glad I stepped out. I’m proud to say it’s out in the world now.
James:
And you’re not only a musical artist—you’re also a designer, right?
William:
Yes! W. Lavant Graphics is my graphic design company. I’ve been doing graphic design since my teens—over ten years now—for some top gospel celebrities and even some mainstream ones. We keep it low-key, but we’re definitely out there.
And beyond that—we have a whole documentary coming out.
James:
A documentary?
William:
Yes. It covers Bethel and my life from then to now. We already shot a short version. And I also have a merch line called Edict Wear. The name came from a music project we did called “Unpredictable.” I didn’t even know “edict” was a word at the time—but it means an official order or law given by someone in authority. It fit perfectly. So yeah—we’ve got a lot going on.
James:
Good news is—we’re not going anywhere. As all of this comes out, you come back and tell us more.
William:
Absolutely. Absolutely.
James:
Where can people find you—your music, your designs, everything?
William:
These days everyone has social media, but the easiest thing to do is go to Google and type in “William Lavon.” Everything will come up. And shout out to my tribe—they’d get me if I didn’t mention them. I love y’all. Thank you to my YouTubers, my supporters—thank you for following the journey.
James:
That’s amazing. William, I truly appreciate you coming by today. Thank you for sharing everything you’re working on and how you’re living your faith. This has been Living My Faith on Faith Works TV. I’m James Fenimore, and this is where we share how we live our faith. We’ll see you next time.
