Short company description:

Online platform where students who may not go to college can speak to multiple recruiters.

Can you share a moment or experience that significantly deepened or shaped your faith journey?

When I was a teenager I have my life to Christ, seeing him work in my life thought the good and the bad has been incredible.

In what ways do you actively live out your faith in your daily life — at work, home, or in your community?

I represent Jesus to every student that I encounter. No matter if it’s a student in prison or in high school my prayer is always that I see them how Christ sees them.

What encouragement or scripture has been especially meaningful to you in this season, and why?

Philippians chapter 4 is always encouraging to me when I feel low. Paul telling the church not to feel anxious while he himself is in jail is a revelation that always blesses me.

What advice would you give to someone who’s struggling to live out their faith or looking to grow spiritually?

It’s not a challenge to see how much Christ you can put in someone’s face everyday. Just make a simple prayer of Lord I want to do represent you today and when the opportunity comes, strike.

James:
Hi and welcome to Living My Faith. I’m James Fenimore, and today we’ve got a really special guest for you. Joining me in the studio is Daniel Clark. Daniel, how are you?

Daniel:
I’m doing well.

James:
How are you? Good. Thank you so much for joining us today, Daniel. All right, I warned you. We start the show with one simple question. How are you living your faith?

Daniel:
I live by living my faith. I think through every facet. And that is just representing the Lord in every area, no matter where it’s at. Whether it is in my marriage, whether it is personally where that is professionally. I just try to do my best to represent the Lord. And I think this is where I’ll call to do.

James:
I love that. I mean, just walking. Walking like Christ. That’s the important thing.

Daniel:
Yeah, exactly. Exactly.

James:
Now, Marriage. Personal life. Professional life. What would you say is the most challenging? Professional.

Daniel:
Professional life?

James:
I think even when you forget to take out the garbage.

Daniel:
Oh, man, I well, I never.

James:
Because my wife is left to forget. So there you go. Right there. No, that’s a good man. Right? That’s right. That’s a good as a great wife. Great wife.

Daniel:
I think professionally, sometimes it’s a little bit harder because you want to take shortcuts. It’s easy to take shortcuts in different areas. But when you do your work as unto the Lord, you have to do that with excellence. And sometimes excellence is a long journey. And with that long journey, you’re having to do things and see people win before you.

Or they may get advantages before you, but you know, you’re doing things as unto the Lord. Doing at least to the best of your abilities. And with that, it can be a little bit hard sometimes, but his grace is sufficient.

James:
Yeah. I, with a lot of clients of mine, I talk about Joseph a lot. A little too much. Listen, this guy worked and worked and worked, and he was doing a lot of bad stuff. Yeah. Slave. We’re talking, jail. You know, just serve it. And he was. And meanwhile, he thought I saw a dream. I’m supposed to be a little over on his back, but he always gave it 100%.

That’s right. And eventually, the fruits came to bear. Right. And I think that’s, an important lesson for anybody in the workplace and really all aspects of life. Yeah. But when it comes to you see that person that gets that promotion, you’re like, why did they get it? Not me. That could be hard. That could be really hard.

How do you, you know, reinforce it to yourself when you hit those moments, those hard moments.

Daniel:
Man, that’s a really good question. I think for me, I allow myself to be angry in the moment. You know, I allow myself I know for a long time if I saw somebody or, not if somebody was. See, see things not happening as fast as I want them to happen. And I would get frustrated, I think naturally, I wouldn’t allow myself to process that emotion.

But now as I get older, as I’m a business owner and I’ve been doing it for a while now, I’ve learned letting myself process that emotion is a good thing. One, because I’m not shoveling it down. But then to giving it to the Lord, you know, say I’m I’m allow myself to be frustrated. But may I know you’ve called me to do this, Lord, at the very end, and that’s what I challenge myself.

James:
That’s that, I think, is some of the most fantastic advice I’ve heard on this show so far, because I think, yeah, you guys hear that? I think we’re so quick to want to live that perfect life and be perfect and that the way you said it was, I need to get it out of me to give it to the Lord.

Because if I shovel it down, it’s going to come out somewhere else.

Daniel:
That’s right.

James:
And not where I expect it to come out, and not how I want it to come out.

Daniel:
Exactly.

James:
And also, maybe not who I want it to go to. Maybe now it goes out. You’re a business owner. Maybe it goes now on somebody that works for you. Even beats on your wife. Maybe it’s if you have kids you know, but when you’re able to process it in the moment and give it over to the Lord, it’s the healthiest way to do it.

Yeah. I love that. Thank you, thank you. So we’re going to. And you guys thank him. All right, so the other thing I suffer with in my business, always I still struggle with it is I answer too quick? You know, because you’re in this fast paced world, you get an email, you think you get an answer right away.

You can’t lower it. Can you lower this contract. Right. Sure. Yeah. But instead of taking a prayerful moment of taking it to God. Do you ever see anything like that?

Daniel:
Oh, yeah. I was answering an email right before I walked in. I was asking, do I need answered right now? No. Should I be focused? Probably on this conversation? Yes. But I think as business owners, you know, when you’re doing and you’re self reliant, you feel like you have to always be available.

Yeah. And one thing that, you know, as I get older and my wife has really taught me is protect your time.

You have to protect your time, even on date night. Yeah. If we went to church on Sunday and then afterwards, we say we’re going to have a little date day. And while we’re waiting on food, I’m cranking away. And my wife said, hey, would you put your phone down? And, me and all my wisdom said, of course I’m going to put my phone down.

Amen, brother. We had we had a.

Really good meeting. But even in that from whether it’s on a date with my wife to, you know, sitting right before I’m going into one meeting, I’m already thinking about three meetings ahead or three meetings behind, or I have to answer this message. It’s chaotic, it’s chaotic, and it’s a constant reminder. And I feel like that all the time.

But even having this conversation reminds me it’s okay to protect your time.

James:
Yeah. Staying present, I think, is such a beautiful way to honor God. Because this is the gift. You know, tomorrow’s not promised. Yes, sir. And yesterday is just depression. Don’t think about that. Just move on. Let’s go. We don’t have to worry about that deal that didn’t go good. We should learn from it and move.

Yeah, but when you say things like, you know, you’re on date night and it still creeps in. You know, I hear and again, I’m preaching to you because I gotta work on this. You know, the one of the first thing God commanded us to do was a day of rest. Are you able to honor that or do you have do you struggle with that like I do.

Daniel:
I struggle with oh 100%.

We can fix this on. We can chop it off. I’m perfect. No I do not struggle with that. But between me and you. Yes. Yes. Yes. I struggle with it. I’m thinking about an email in church. Yeah. I’m thinking about this contract that hasn’t been signed. While I’m, you know, doing other things, and. And I do struggle with that.

You know, and I think it is something that, marriage does help because you have, you know, your marriage is almost like a mirror. You just like your relationship with the Lord. It’s a mirror. You know where you may be offended in the moment. You have to put my phone down, but I need to get this work done.

But with that mirror comes that reflection of. Oh, I see myself deteriorating the longer I don’t give myself that rest for longer. I don’t honor the Lord with a Sabbath.

And so, it’s easier said than done. I think we both can know that. We both know that it’s easier said than done. But, the more that I do it, the better off that I am.

James:
Yeah, yeah. And that’s what. So why.

Daniel:
Else?

James:
Like, we know when we do it, we’re like, I gotta do that more often. Right. And the very next week, it’s the same thing over again.

Daniel:
I know what to eat to become the best bodybuilding looking six pack. I know, but Oreo keeps coming up with these new.

James:
Cookies in their mania. That is so good for me.

Daniel:
So good.

James:
I don’t know who’s in that laboratory. Oh, no.

Daniel:
You’re doing God’s work.

James:
I tell you, that’s it. We’re also men. We’re a little thick headed because we go right back to, of course, what we do. Right? But I, I just really want to thank you for coming in today. This has been an awesome conversation.

Is there anything you’d like to just, you know, get out there to the world that we didn’t cover today?

Daniel:
Yeah. So my business works primarily with students. And so I was at a high school yesterday and I had told them, I said, but the biggest advice that I received is to just go out there and do something.

And as we are believers in faith, I think the Lord will call us to, to take a leap of faith. And sometimes that leap of faith is very, very hard to do, especially as men. We want to we’re providers. We want to know what’s going to happen. I want to know what’s happened. Three steps ahead.

And, you know, the same thing I kind of told them is the same thing. You know, it’s kind of, oh, my heart today is if the Lord calls you to go, just go.

James:
Love it.

Daniel:
And just take that leap of faith.

James:
I love that so much. Thank you so much for thinking that. I mean, I really appreciate it. All your information is going to be on the show sheet, so if anybody wants to find you, reach out to you, it’ll all be there. So don’t worry about it and they’ll be contacting you because we got some good advice today.

Oh come on, that’s awesome. All right. So do you know where to get them? But anyway, thank you so much for joining us today. This has been living my faith. I’m James Fenimore. I cannot wait to see you next time.
