Welcome to Living My Faith, a weekly show that celebrates the everyday believers who are walking with Jesus not just on Sundays, but in every area of their lives. From relationships and parenting to health, habits, and home, our guests share how they keep their faith at the center of it all. Hosted in Jacksonville, Florida and supported by Christ-centered partners, Living My Faith is a space where real life meets real faith. Today our host Morgan Allen spoke with Gabriel Rench.

Short company description:
CrossPolitic (Christ over politics) mixes the taboo formula of faith, culture, and politics to bring the clarity of the gospel into muddle America. We are a community of Christians who desire to see the Lordship of Christ in every corner of our culture, reigning over every politician, and changing every individual for our good and His glory.
Can you share a moment or experience that significantly deepened or shaped your faith journey?
Getting married and having kids changes everything about you. It teaches you to repent of your sins, trust in God, work harder to provide for your family, and trust in God for the salvation of your kids.

Morgan:
Welcome back to another episode of Living My Faith, where we highlight those who are making Kingdom Impact. I’m Morgan Allen, joined today by Gabriel Rench aka Water Boy with Cross Politics Studios. Gabriel, thank you for being here.
Gabriel:
Hey, Morgan, thank you so much for having me on the show. I appreciate it.
Morgan:
Of course. So tell me about cross politics and what you guys are doing.
Gabriel:
Yeah. So Cross Politic started off as a podcast and we’re now on direct TV and dish. So it became a TV show. And basically cross Politic is the name cross Jesus is Lord over politics. We started that show in 2016, and a time where Christians didn’t really talk about publicly faith in politics, crisis in politics.
I grew up in a church in an era where it was even discouraged to talk about politics and faith. And so our show kind of started. If we believe Jesus is Lord over all that, he’s over politics also. So we started our show to kind of, disciple and combat, I think at least my growing up in the church.
And I figured a lot of other people had the same kind of discipleship problem where they didn’t know how to apply the Bible to every area of life, particularly politics. So that’s why Cross Political started in 2016.
Morgan:
What are some of the hottest topics that you have on the show? I can think of a few, but you tell me.
Gabriel:
Yeah. You know, I mean, some of them might be surprising, but, you know, of course, talking about, you know, why you should vote for Trump or why you shouldn’t vote for Trump is always a big topic. You know, Trump is a polarizing character.
And I think in 2016, I didn’t vote for Trump. Actually, in 2024, I did vote for Trump. And I have biblical reasons for both sides of that vote. And so that’s that’s always one, you know, right now, obviously, the war in Iran is a big issue right now.
And then, you know, every year, especially since Roe v Wade has ended state issues with abortions, obviously brings a lot of debates, not just between like Democrats and Republicans, but also between like, what we call the pro-life establishment movement and the abolitionists.
And so those are, you know, we don’t want to be shy. We don’t want to be scared of any topic. We want to be able to talk through everything. And that’s one of the problems with the First Amendment in America is we have a problem with the first and the church to where it’s hard to talk through issues with each other.
So that’s hopefully we’re kind of, bringing a good, jolly character to those conversations. And what we do is cross politics.
Morgan:
That’s incredible. So how do you personally and your teammates, how do you guys handle some of the backlash or the debates, like when they get really fiery? What are some ways you can defuse those?
Gabriel:
Yeah, there’s a couple, a principle that we always want to be living by here. One is the joy of the Lord is our strength. You know, you can kind of think of the, the, the, the conservative standing in front of Fox television and kind of screaming at the TV, you know, you know, you know, go down Democrats kind of thing or whatever.
And we don’t fight by cantankerous frustration. We fight by joy. And so we want to, first and foremost, kind of just be full of joy, not a fake joy, a true joy in the Lord.
And then also iron sharpens iron. We don’t want to be scared of hard conversations because, let’s say even if we’re right in the conversation, we know the conversation is good because iron sharpens iron, and, and that kind of thing.
So those are two principles, I think, that really help and go a long way. The current, you know, everyone is so ideological versus principled. If you’re principled, you don’t fear the conversation.
If you’re ideological, you’re just standing on a topic or an issue without being able to reason well, principally to get to that issue.
So if you’re more principled versus ideological, that really kind of takes the weight off you too, because it’s God’s Word. It’s his way of doing things, and you’re just trying to stand on his word versus your own ideology, if that makes sense.
Morgan:
Yeah, that’s such a good way of putting it and thinking about it. And, it’s not this, this battle that needs to be won. I mean, the battle has been won, obviously, but, it’s not this battle that the ego needs to be involved in.
It’s thinking about it from the outside perspective and we don’t fight against rulers, authorities and people in this world. We fight against spirituality, you know, the darkness versus the light.
So how are you guys thinking about it that way as you go about every single interview and episode, when you’re fighting against the spiritual aspect of things.
Gabriel:
Yeah. So, I might have a different take on them, probably most Christians on this topic, spiritual versus physical or spiritual versus earthly.
You know, when Jesus taught us the Lord’s Prayer, he taught us to pray that thy kingdom come on earth as in heaven.
So I believe, yeah, there’s principalities and powers in the world. Absolutely. But also, Paul referred to principalities and powers as a real kingdom, principalities and powers here on Earth.
Two so not just spiritual, but also physical.
When Jesus came in his incarnation, we aren’t, Gnostic Christians, meaning that, hey, spiritual good materials are bad?
No, we’re full orbed Christians. And the incarnation Christ shows us that spiritual is good and physical is good.
And so we’re, the way we look at this kind of engagement in these conversations is like we want to bring, as we pray, the Lord’s Prayer.
We want his kingdom to come here on earth as it is in heaven.
So we want the reality of our conversation not just to be some sort of this distant, gnostic spiritual conversation that actually matters here.
Now in our lives, with each other and in our neighbors and with this world.
Morgan:
So I love it.
Gabriel:
I don’t want to. I don’t want to make categories that Christ came to bring together, if that makes sense.
Morgan:
Oh, of course, Emmanuel, God with us. Yes. He comes down to our level. It’s a beautiful thing.
So you said the ways people can watch your television show is how.
Gabriel:
Yeah, of course they can find us on podcasts and YouTube and then of course on direct TV, where through national religious broadcasts, NBC-TV. Also and you can I think it’s channel 272 or something like that on DirectTV and then dish, it might be 374 or something like that.
Morgan:
Gotcha. Well, congratulations on your success with this, because it is so exciting to create a political news network that is faith based. What a dream come true, I’m sure.
So thank you for the great work that you’re doing. And for coming on the show today.
Gabriel:
Thanks for your time, Morgan. I appreciate it.
