James
I welcome to Living My Faith. I’m James Fenimore. Today we’ve got a very special guest for you. Joining me today is Riley Brodal. Riley, how are you?

Riley
Good. How are you doing?

James
Good. It’s so nice to meet you. And I’m so grateful you’re here today. Riley. We start this show with one simple question. How are you living your faith?

Riley
Yeah. I guess daily motions of prayer and scripture is a big part of my walk with God. I love the Bible app. And then, more recently, I started a business basically surrounded around getting people Bibles, customizing Bibles. So that’s kind of I pray with people, I do all kinds of things with Bibles every day.

James
All right. So you’ve literally surrounded yourself at the word it sounds like.

Riley
Yeah.

James
Yeah. So so I guess you have lived your faith, and now you want to work in your faith as well, right?

Riley
Yeah. So?

James
So tell me, tell me about this business.

Riley
Yeah. So, leading up to having covered, I’ve worked in marketing and I’ve loved what I’ve learned. And people that I’ve worked with. But the biggest thing for me was I wasn’t finding fulfillment in not being able to be super bold and open about my faith. And so, my mom and I love giving Bibles as gifts to people.

Riley
And then an idea came from God for her to start wrapping Bibles. So we, wrap we have over 28 different cover designs, and we brought paperback Bibles, and we’ve gotten into re binding Bibles so that people’s treasured Bibles, they could maybe, for instance, we took one of my dad’s childhood Bibles and we wrapped it in one of his flannels.

Riley
He passed away. So, we’re just trying to preserve the word or encourage people to be more excited about getting into their Bibles.

James
I love that. Because when you first start wrapping Bibles, I’m like, it’s just like when I was in middle school and I had to wrap my textbooks in, like, you know, lunch bags, but that is really that is really nice looking. I mean, yeah, we have I.

Riley
A lot of different options and I just kind of and then we also design, iron on patches. So this is just a heat seal patch. We have over 200 patches that we sell. And we’ve designed a lot of them. So you’re not going to find this anywhere else. And you could use this on a bag or a hat.

Riley
And basically our goal is to just help people, you know, start conversations about Jesus and like, you know, wear their faith. And like I said, I just wasn’t finding fulfillment in traditional work. Talking to my coworkers about Jesus wasn’t enough. I needed to make my whole life about it.

James
So I love that. I, and I love the patch idea with not just on the Bible, but you could put it on a on a bag or a shirt or whatever. I remember one time I was wearing a hat. It was a Yahweh hat. And first of all, you can’t get mad when you’re waiting on line at a concession stand that it’s too long.

James
While you’re wearing a Yahweh hat, you got to be yourself. You gotta have a smile on your face because you are representing something much bigger than you in that moment. But people would come up to me and point at my hat and, and it just, it was like a sense of community. So like the fact that you’re creating these patches for people to go out into the world and, and see that is a really cool way to live out your faith.

James
Have you noticed anything like that?

Riley
Yeah. I think, when you wear clothing that maybe has Bible verses or reword Jesus Loves Your Shirt a lot. People look at you differently. And yeah, it’s an important way to keep you in check so that you’re witnessing, you know, you’re more mindful of it. And people do. You know, sometimes you get dirty looks. When I’ve worked out in markets just because our name is covered Bible bar, I have actually worked markets at bars or even not churches, but people who like, kind of avoid our booth.

Riley
So it is, a polarizing, you know, thing. People get divided about it, but it’s important that we’re out there witnessing because there’s so many people who don’t know Jesus. And like, I want them to experience his love and like, deliverance from guilt and shame and all the wonderful things that Jesus has saved me from.

James
I love that. And, yeah, I hate to say it, but it is polarizing sometimes. But polarizing also means there’s a really good end to it all. So yeah. And that I love and, and getting getting the word out there, protecting Bibles in a beautiful way is a really cool thing that you do. And is this only local?

James
I know you said you go to markets, but are there ways if people want to do this that aren’t local to you?

Riley
Yeah. We have a website you can just visit covered Bible, Viacom. We’re on pretty much every social media as well. So if you’re looking for a custom project like you want a Bible rebound or you want a Bible covered, you can message us and we can walk you through it. We can do video calls. But yeah, we’re located in Katy, Texas.

Riley
And we host immersive Bible experiences. So, we make anointing oil. We do where you can decorate your Bible, make spiritual punch cards to encourage you to read more of the Bible watercolor. We’re really just trying to help the Bible come alive for people. So we have a conference room, and people can book times with up to ten of their friends or family to study the Bible together, hands on, like we do.

Riley
A study of Ezekiel 37. Dry bones come alive where you dig up dry bones and you pray, and you read that scripture and you learn about that vision that Ezekiel had, and then you get a succulent to take home to remind you of the hope that God has for his people in his mission. And Jesus.

James
That’s awesome. You guys are doing some really, really cool stuff, and I’m so glad you got to share with us today. Yeah. Riley, thank you so much for joining us on Living my. Thank you. I hope you come back soon and we could hear more about what you’re up to.

Riley
Yeah, absolutely.

James
Thank you. This has been living my faith. I’m James Fenimore, and we can’t wait to see you next time.
