How long have you been in your industry?24 years
Why did you choose your industry?I wanted to use my education and experience to help resolve eminent domain disputes.
Who are your typical clients?Property owners and business owners who are having their property taken by condemning authorities such as the Florida Department of Transportation, a local city or county, or a utility company such as Florida Power or Florida Gas Transmission Company.
What do you like best about being in this industry?I like helping individuals navigate what can be an unnerving situation.
What are common problems you see?Property owners often wait longer than they should to retain experienced eminent domain lawyers.
What advice/tips do you have for clients?Hire an experienced eminent domain attorney as soon as you know your property may be needed for a public project.
When is your busy season?Year around.
What keeps you up at night?When parties take unrealistic and unreasonable positions.
How do you market yourself to grow/expand your business?Aside from the standard websites and digital platforms we send Bar approved letters to potentially impacted property owners. We are also active members of the Florida Bar Eminent Domain Committee and regularly present at conferences and meetings throughout the state.
How involved are you in the community?We are actively involved on the boards of nonprofit agencies as well as founding member and past president of a local Rotary Club.
What is your favorite not for profit or charity?OCMC - Orthodox Christian Mission Center.
What advice would you give to someone thinking of getting into this business?Get as much experience in the planning, development, and valuation of a variety of types of real property as well as a good understanding of engineering and construction.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?Spending time with my wife, daughters, and grandchildren. I am lucky in that my wife enjoys golfing, fishing, and skiing as do my kids.
