How long have you been in your industry?15 Years
Why did you choose your industry?I was the #1 ranked producer worldwide for Mutual of New York (MONY), The Equitable Assurance Society, and AXA Financial when I sustained severe spinal cord injuries in a not-at-fault MVA. Unable to walk, and having to undergo 15 surgeries and years of physical therapy, I had to close all four of my offices in three states. I moved into consulting in the event I would not regain the ability to walk. As I always taught my children, "Hope for the best, and prepare for the worst."
Who are your typical clients?Other business owners who need to build authority through television, #1 Best Selling books, and other methods that I used to reach #1 rankings in financial services and other industries.
What do you like best about being in this industry?I'm able to bring the methods that I used to become successful to bring massive success to my clients.
What are common problems you see?Same as any other. Far too many pretenders and not enough contenders. Too many people relying on others who have never had success and expecting those people to bring them success.
What advice/tips do you have for clients?Work with consultants and advisors who have already achieved the successes you are working toward. If you want to reach the top of your industry, work with someone who has already reached the top. If you want to become a #1 Best Selling Author, work with a #1 Best Selling Author. If you want to break sales records, work with someone who has already broken sales records.
When is your busy season? We are extremely busy all year long, except for March, when we take time out for Spring Training and family, as well as December, when we take time out for Christmas and family.
What keeps you up at night?Time. Wishing that I knew at 25 what I know at 60. Hoping that I have enough time left to help as many people as possible.
How do you market yourself to grow/expand your business?I was fortunate to learn how to cultivate referrals while in the financial services business. Back then, my magazines, books and comic books did the job for me. They still do. They work for all of my clients just as well.
How involved are you in the community?Outside of raising millions of dollars for charity, I volunteered in my children’s schools and still volunteer to this day. I’m on a mission to turn a thousand students and teachers into #1 Best Selling Authors in 2025. I’m just as happy to help kids in Duval as I am in Orange County. We’re happy to bring in corporate sponsors, such as the Daily News Network or the Jacksonville Jaguars.
What is your favorite not for profit or charity?Saint Jude Children’s Hospital, Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, anything that benefits kids. I have three children of my own and they may have some of their own, someday.
What advice would you give to someone thinking of getting into this business?Trust the results. Don't "trust the process." It’s a chapter title in my latest #1 Best Seller, INFLUENCE IN ACTION BRINGS MORE BUSINESS TO ENTREPRENEURS. "Trust the process” is the worst advice anyone can follow. That philosophy was pushed by a failed GM of the Philadelphia 76ers. He failed with it, until he was fired for bringing his team consistently bad results.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?My girl, Sharon and I enjoy pro and college sports, concerts, and of course, all of the great theme parks, here in Orlando.
