James:
Hi, and welcome to Living My Faith. I’m James Fenimore, and today we’ve got a great show for you. Joining me is Matt Wilmoth. Matt, how are you?
Matt:
James, it’s a pleasure to be here. I’m doing great.
James:
Thank you so much for joining me, Matt. I’ve got one simple question for you: how are you living your faith?
Matt:
We’re living our faith through our production company. Back in 2021, my wife and I decided to rebrand as Almighty Wings Productions and launch a faith-based video production company. I’ve been in television and entertainment for 30 years, and honestly, I got tired of what Hollywood and the major networks were pushing.
We felt like we needed to take a stand for the Kingdom—so we created this company to do just that.
James:
That’s amazing. So in a sense, you didn’t walk away from your career—you redirected it. You’re using your experience for the Lord now.
Matt:
Exactly. And I’ll tell you—sometimes it’s hard turning down work. We’ll get calls about “great projects,” and the budget is there—they’ll even agree to our highest rate. But once we get into the content, we realize it doesn’t align with our values.
That can be disheartening, but it’s also easy to say no when something doesn’t match our morals. And we don’t only do faith-based content—family-friendly content is important too. There’s just a line, and we’re careful about what crosses it.
James:
I respect that. A lot of people experience that sanctification process—things just start falling away naturally. The shows you used to watch, the music you used to listen to—suddenly you realize you haven’t touched it in a while.
But for you, it’s even deeper, because you weren’t just consuming content—you were working on it. Turning away from a paycheck, especially when you may need it, is truly admirable.
Matt:
Thank you—and you’re right. We’ve definitely felt that tension. But I honestly see it as a test. It’s like God is asking, “What are you willing to compromise?” And the answer for us is: we’re not. Not anymore. I’ve compromised enough in my life.
Now I have kids, and I want them to be able to watch everything I work on.
I’ve done projects in the past—especially in Knoxville, Tennessee, where we produce a lot of series content. Knoxville is known for true crime. We produce a lot of “murder content,” as I call it. I’ve had to work on it before, but it doesn’t resonate with me. To be frank, it gives me nightmares. A few years ago, I realized it just wasn’t for me—and I didn’t want to support it anymore.
James:
I completely understand that—and I definitely don’t want to give you any nightmares today. So what kind of work are you focused on now through the production company?
Matt:
Right now we’re really building out the post-production side of the business. We edit reality shows, TV shows, and lifestyle content—those are the areas where I have the most experience.
But over the years, I’ve done a lot: commercials, promos, corporate videos, training videos, church videos, and films. We’re open to whatever God sends our way, and we pray regularly that He’ll bring us projects that glorify Him.
And again, it doesn’t always have to be “faith-based” in-your-face—but it does need to be family-friendly. We kept hearing from family after family that they’re exhausted by what Hollywood is pushing. They want something they can watch with their kids without having to send them out of the room.
James:
I relate to that so much. I have two little ones too, and it’s genuinely hard. Sometimes I’m afraid to turn on regular TV. Even during a football game at 6:30 at night, the commercials and movie previews are the problem.
Matt:
That’s a pet peeve of mine, to be honest.
James:
Same here. It’s out of control. So I really appreciate what you’re doing and where you’re coming from. And I also want to point out—you’re in such a powerful position. You’re willing to do corporate videos, promos, all kinds of projects—so Christian businesses and organizations have access to someone with real industry-level experience. That’s huge.
Matt:
Ideally, yes—absolutely. Over the course of my career, I’ve been blessed to edit content that aired on more than 20 major networks—HGTV, Food Network, History Channel, Discovery ID—some of that was the true crime stuff—Fine Living, DIY Network… it’s a long list.
And that’s what brought us to a crossroads a few years ago. During COVID, the bottom fell out of some contracts. We were looking for work and asking ourselves: do we leave the industry completely and go sell cars or homes, or do we stick with what we know?
We kept feeling like God had placed us in this industry for a reason—that He pulled us out of the “market,” so to speak, for a purpose. That’s when we created the company, and we made the decision to devote it to God—to surrender it and say, “Use us. Send us where You need us.”
James:
Matt, after talking with you—before the show and now—I truly believe God has a lot in store for you. Whether it’s churches, Christian businesses, or shows that are desperately needed today, I know He’s going to do great work through you and Almighty Wings Productions.
Thank you so much for joining me on Living My Faith.
Matt:
Thank you. I really enjoyed talking with you before the show, and I look forward to talking again afterward. Thanks for having me today—it’s been a blessing.
James:
Absolutely. We’re going to link all your information on the show sheet so people can reach out and connect with you. Matt, thank you again for joining us.
Matt:
Have a blessed day.
James:
You too. This has been Living My Faith. I’m James Fenimore, and we’ll see you next time.
