On Buzz On Veterans, our hosts Steve Strum and Chris Budihas talk to veterans making a difference in their communities. Today, Chris and Steve have the honor to speak with Ryan Bauman of Our Community Salutes, USA.
Short company description: Our Community Salutes (OCS) is a national, non-profit organization helping communities recognize, honor and support high school seniors who plan to enlist in the U.S. Armed Services after graduation.
What Is Your Why (Why Are You In Business)?: I wanted to find a way to continue to serve others outside of the uniform. This allows me to pay it forward to the next generation of service members, letting them know how much we, as a country, stand behind their decision to serve.
How did you get started in your field or work?: Coaching, conversation, self-discovery, networking, and a proper LinkedIn filter for career searches.
What’s one thing we should know that makes your company unique?: We are “the first to say thank you” to the next generation of service members. We’re at the beginning of the journey, and are here to support the DOD and Services’ recruiting efforts.
What are your biggest goals in the next 6 to 12 Months for your business?: We have our Spring 2025 ceremony slate complete, and will be looking at over 50 sites around the country to host these recognition ceremonies. We always have a need to increase our footprint of: community leaders, volunteers, veteran partner organizations, and local business support in each location. Lastly, we want corporate America to join with us, and bring their Veteran ERG’s to our ceremonies…or help us host a luncheon on behalf of the enlistees.
