What’s The Biggest Challenge you are facing in your business or industry?
Currently, change management is the biggest challenge in the industry. We are currently modernizing many systems and processes. The workforce itself is experiencing a massive shift and a lot of expertise is transitioning out of organizations. We face the challenge of navigating these changes while carrying over tribal knowledge in an industry revolutionizing its processes across all sectors.
How do you see your field evolving in the next 3-5 years?
In the next 3-5 years the business aviation industry will enter a state of continuous improvement of operational excellence standards. Competition will drive innovation and technological advancements, bringing new ideas and solutions to the market. In the next 3-5 years I think the general public will face decisions they need to make. Will they turn to VTOLs or continue choosing airlines? Will we finally see the rollout of regulations that permit a new category of operations? The aviation industry is pushing the boundaries and public acceptance will be necessary to embrace some of the new changes coming.
What do you consider to be your greatest accomplishment?
Being awarded Member of the Year for the CFBAA. That award is given to the volunteer who looks for ways to help before finding things to complain about. The recipient is known for going above and beyond to help, support and volunteer whenever possible. I take great honor in receiving that award as it reflects on my commitment to serve and add value to my peers and the industry.
Who in your industry do you see as a trend setter and why?
Tom Lelyo—he brings a new perspective and approach that I am not seeing done by many others entering the industry. He takes the time to educate and provide value before making an ask, and he has a strong level of professionalism and grit. I enjoy seeing his vulnerability and transparency as he navigates the industry and is willing to have deeper conversations. Tom is genuine, hard working and ambitious and those traits I think are admirable and respectable for a professional in any industry.
