How long have you been in your industry?20
Why did you choose your industry?I choose to work in the nonprofit space out of a passion to help lift others out of poverty and to empower them to take control of their lives.
Who are your typical clients?Currently, as CEO of the Heart of Alabama Food Bank, I serve residents who are battle hunger and food insecurity. It ranges from the elderly, families, children, veterans, college campuses, and those battling serious illnesses.
What do you like best about being in this industry? The opportunity to impact someone's life in a meaningful, life changing way.
What are common problems you see?Poor leadership and little understanding of organizational management. Too many nonprofits don't serve their clients as well as they could because leaders are risk adversed, lack vision, and cannot inspire stakeholders to achieve greater heights.

When is your busy season? No one time is busier than another
What keeps you up at night?People playing politics on both sides of the aisle when it comes to helping those in need.
How do you market yourself to grow/expand your business?Volunteers are provided a great experience and then become advocates in the community for our organization. We also use local media, social media, and attend community events to spread the word in person.
