How long have you been in your industry?15 years

Why did you choose your industry?I’ve always been wired to think in terms of risk and reward. When I was growing up and going through college, I loved games of strategy and odds. I didn’t foresee myself as a financial advisor, but I knew I’d be doing something with investing.What drew me into wealth management was the opportunity to bring a fresh perspective to a dated industry. I believe my skills and experience lend themselves to helping those who face complexity and are afraid of making a big, costly mistake.

Who are your typical clients?I tend to work with high-net-worth clients, specifically millionaire families, to help them navigate the complexities of their wealth.

What do you like best about being in this industry?I’m at a point where I’m able to take charge of my schedule, allowing myself to create space for the other priorities in my life, such as my family and my health.

What are common problems you see?The wealth management industry is an aging industry. It makes you wonder: Is your advisor spending more time thinking about your retirement or theirs?If people want an advisor and team that will be with them, their spouse, and their family for many years, I believe my team and I can provide for that them.

What advice/tips do you have for clients?Let the headlines in your life guide your wealth, not the headlines on TV.

When is your busy season?We are most actively engaged with our clients from January to April. However, I try and stay in front of our clients year-round across various media outlets. And, of course, when markets get shaky – often without notice – our client outreach and communications kick into high gear.

What keeps you up at night?‘What might I be wrong about?’

How do you market yourself to grow/expand your business?I try to be in front of the right people with the right message as much as possible.I’m a contributor to local and national media outlets, content creator on LinkedIn, and write a weekly newsletter for the wealth creators, entrepreneurs, and families that my team and I work with.

How involved are you in the community?Alongside working with the David Lawrence Centers, I also do some work with the Collier County Community Foundation, which supports a broad range of nonprofits in our local community.

What is your favorite not for profit or charity?I’m a big advocate for mental health awareness. Why shouldn’t we take care of our minds just like we take care of our hearts, kidneys, and other organs? I currently serve as a board member at the leading behavioral health care facility in Naples, Florida – the David Lawrence Centers for Behavioral Health.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of getting into this business?Keep a long-term perspective on your goals. Things aren’t always going to go your way. Still, you have to be willing to show up and put in the work, regardless of what happens to you and around you. With hindsight, you’ll understand things are happening for you, not to you.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?I make it a priority to spend my free time with my family, who means everything to me—my spouse, our two kids, and even our two Golden Retrievers.
