About Lunchtime HeroesI help churches build a communications ministry that's healthy, effective, and aligned with the mission.
What differentiates you from the competition?I develop the communications staff in the organization while we build the right communications ministry for their church.
What are your top selling services or products that your company offers? The uniqueness is in how well prepared the communications staff is after our time together.
If you had one message to get across to future customers, what would it be?Investing in your communications staff will yield dramatically more fruit in your ministry than copying a system or process from another church.
What is the biggest marketing challenge that you will face in the upcoming year?Helping churches see the value of investing in their communications staff.

What is your approach to helping clients identify and solve key challenges? I do this through my online assessment followed up by a discovery call. The assessment gives us a measurable baseline to call out specific issues based on expressed behaviors, and the discovery call is where I use my experience in church communications to discover the challenges in their current ministry.

How do you tailor your coaching or consulting style to different industries? The industry doesn’t typically influence my consulting style as much as my client’s goals.

What are the most common misconceptions about consulting? That consultants come in, tell you what’s wrong, then leave without helping.

How do you measure the success of your client engagements? By the fact that they rarely need me again after building a healthy foundation.

What trends are influencing the future of consulting and coaching? The biggest I see is AI functioning as a “sounds-good” coach. People will ask questions and get great sounding answers. But this can be very costly as AI doesn’t offer the discernment humans do. In church ministry specifically, there’s a temptation to overextend which leads to spreading their staff and finances too thin. That tends to only consider consulting and coaching when the situation becomes a crisis.

What’s the most rewarding part of your work? Seeing creatives empowered to serve their churches well.

What skills do you think are essential for future consultants or coaches? You have to be able to listen without judgement. It’s critical to facilitate a safe conversation for those who work with you.
