“On A Mission” showcases leaders who are going the extra mile each and every day. Each of the people we interview is on a mission to serve, inspire, and educate. Our hosts highlight their impact and explore what motivates, engages, and fulfills individuals and teams to be more productive, more effective, better at what they do, and happier to do it. Today, our host, Morgan Allen, spoke with Erika Burnett.

Short Company Description:
The Village is an intentionally curated incubation space providing culturally-aligned infrastructure of support for historically under-resourced nonprofit leaders and organizations serving primarily marginalized communities through capacity building, and increased access & upskilling.
What nonprofit do you have a heart for and how do you support it?
We are a nonprofit serving as a resource, catalyst, and advocate for 250+ values aligned impact sector agencies across Davidson County.
What’s your favorite way to get involved in the community?
Both as a function of my role and how I choose to engage in community, I am finding great joy and deep meaning in bringing my (almost) 5-year-old with me to community meetings, particularly those hosted by our local elected officials.
What is the most important lesson you’ve learned over your career?
Beyond the title or affiliation, people always remember how and where you use your voice, agency and influence.
